Anyone for a nightcap?

I am not drinking, too early. But I was joking with my spouse last night about becoming a wino as a career move, stumbling around our well heeled suburb with a little paper cup of mas de gougonnier, leering at women and muttering.

Sounds like a horrible thing that I should probably avoid diligently.

As an aside, one of the best altered states I've experienced came from an incredibly smooth homebrew mead that was bottled by a friend of mine in the SCA. While everyone and their brother went of to (boring-ass) Court, my buddy John and I sat in the feast hall, ogled the hot serving wenches, and got happily drunk off homebrew mead. It was a smooth, warm buzz that didn't mess with my stomach (alcohol frequently gives me heartburn), and faded clean. No nasty aftertastes either.

At one point, John, pleasantly drunk, looked at me, and with a look on his face that made clear that he was about to say something funny, quipped "I am not as drunk as you think I am." Obviously intending to say "I'm not as think as you drunk I am", a favoured phrase of his, he was initially pleased at my laughter. When he realised that I was laughing a bit out of proportion to what he'd said, the miswording dawned on him, and he got amusingly red in the face. Fortunate, one of the pretty serving wenches was nearby to witness this, adding to my enjoyment of the spectacle :D

Aye, m'lord. Uh-er-um. I got nothing.

Oh cool - an old friend of mine used to do this imitation of what happens to drunken sorority girls when they grow up. He would do this pose and fake a cigarette in one hand and a martini in another. I was in stitches.

*giggles* nothing beats the homebrew. :cathappy:

But there are some good brands out there now. And I miss spoke last night. It's valley vineyard honey mead that I am inlove with as far as mass bottled stuff goes. The store bought stuff does have a bit more...sting to it than homebrew. Homebrew doesn't (usually) have that little burn.

but I know I know, don't take candy from stangers aplies here, and I won't be drinking homebrewed mead from this person any time soon....but oh man the posibilities. :cathappy:

Sad but true - the whole "m'lord" and "m'lady" thing was half the reason why I left the SCA. I loved so much about it. I loved the arts, sciences, crafts, leather, and armourcraft, and I completely adored the combat (I like hitting people. Doing it in public with flipping huge sticks while wearing armour is teh kewl), but, wow, I fucking hated the shows of obeisance. Even farcical as they were, they grated on me. And this is even with me avoiding Court like the plague.

Heh, I hate titles to this day, and I'll kick somebody straight in the ass before I willingly take a knee to them. But put me in an Oriental setting, and I have absolutley no problem bowing as a greeting or show of respect. Different mindset.

I'm telling you, it was grand. Another friend of mine made some mead, and it was no good. Lots of burn, nasty aftertaste. My gal tried to make some, but the yeast never took or something. It mever became mead. Just sorta stayed honey-mess. Irritating.

Totally different mindset!

It's the folks who take themselves too seriously that I can't dig. In fact, I can't stand Doms who take themselves too seriously either, which does limit my options. Anyway - if you are so into role play that you and no one around you can break character...just ugh. That's a drag for me.

Yeah, I'm with you there. I'm all about roleplay as a hobby. Been a gamer for the vast majority of my life. done roleplay in sexual situations, and had fun with it. When I'm not in-scene, or in-game? I'm me, you're you, and neither one of us is some role.

Heh, there's one guy hereabouts that I simply can't stand. Met him in a game I was running, and we disliked each other right off. He only introduces himself using his character's name, and won't tell most people what his given name is. Well, he frequents the same bar I do for Goth night. Turns out he does the same there. Nobody knows his real name, just his persona name. Well, it further turns out that he in the lifestyle, and the name he offers there is the same, Lord soandso. So this guy uses his scene name for roleplaying games, goth clubs, lifestyle, and apparently the SCA as well for a bit.

He's one of those Doms that takes himself far too seriously. He jokes and laughs, but the second he feels slighted, wow, utter bastard. Me? I call him by his first name  (though I won't use it if we ever attend the same scene event. I'm not asshole enough for that)

I would pay to watch this, I swear.

Sorry this is probably a bit of a hijack but....

This totally reminded me of all the popular girls in high school, you know the cheerleaders and class president and so on... I was not a part of this group, I was a part of the slutty artsy clique, anyhow, those of us that were in the clique I was a part of all of us have gotten college educations and have done something with our lives. Those cheerleading stuck up bitches I went to school with, well they are all stuck in the same little town I graduated from hanging out in the bar every night overweight and miserable. Sometimes it just makes you smile. :D

end of hijack...

You must understand, this was after watching the fifth coiffed 800,000 dollar a year former harvard applicant (no doubt) try to use the "DO NOT USE THIS DOOR" door at the back of the wine bar which was more than we should have paid to go out at.

So I found inspiration.

Wine, beer, tea, mead, coffee, and water to anyone who needs it. :rose:

I would stay and tend bar, but I am exhausted. I suppose I'll just leave the refreshments.

I am heading out to lunch in a moment, and just popping in to say thanks, ITW - for both your supportive words and your explanation on the other thread.

I appreciated both very much. The former is nice to know, and the latter actually helps me quite a bit.

No problem. I was just saying what's true.
