one left to go.

Ever notice how the word "bitch" is allowed on prime time shows like "King of Queens" but they bleep out other curse words?

It's time to fix that, too. If they're going to bleep out "fuck" "shit" and "asshole" they need to bleep out the B word. Or just not utter it at all.

What's the difference between "bitch" and "nigger" anyway?

There's a large difference that I don't have time to get deep-dish into right now, as far as MY opinion goes...but in a nutshell, "bitch" has a better context range than the n-word ever does.

Both can be used as a derogatory, but only one has a true negative origin. I don't use bitch as a derogatory unless I am affected personally to anger or scorn. In a sexual context, maybe I could say it...but I always take the woman's lead and if I don't have cause to use the word, like calling her a "sexy bitch" only if she likes that kinda talk, then I never do. To use it as a general term for the being of woman as many people do unconsciously, is just showing contempt for women and that's not me. And the minute anyone ever uses the n-bomb with me in a sexual situation when being intimate, they'd better start learning how to fly since my apartment is on the third floor.

I look at the B word in the context of thousands of years of oppression of women. Which to me makes it as bad or worse than the other. But you've got a point - sometimes a woman likes that kind of talk. I just don't go there, and no woman has ever ridden my ass for refusing to.

But on TV, they routinely call a woman a B just to be contemptful, and I don't see how that's different than using a racial slur.

Because a racial slur demeans the entire race. Calling a woman a "bitch" is like calling a man a "moron."

But it's a woman-specific insult. Although I've heard white people called "white nigger" and "wigger", too.

I was under the impression that bitch was ok because in one sense it refers to a dog. The censors will bleep anything that has to do with a bodily function (shit, fuck). I don't think the censors would bleep nigger? They don't on comedy central - and yet they have bleeped shit and fuck. oh hell - I don't know...
