Trump Has No Elvis In Him

Why should he ? Rich kid, Brought Up in Queens. Seeks life in NYC.
Elvis, poor boy, brought up in Mississippi, had life in Memphis, Tennessee.

November 21, 2018 Trump steals five minutes of publicity
by using his power as president, and exploiting Elvis Presley's fame.

November 21, 2018

A recent documentary by Eugene Jarecki called “The King” examines
Presley’s life as a metaphor for America in the age of Trump, with the
director implying the United States is in its “late Elvis” stage —
self-indulgent, sick and dying.

Among the criticisms from the many celebrities and musicians who
are interviewed is that Presley never participated in the civil rights
movement. He never marched for the cause.

In fact, Presley participated the only way he ever participated, through
his music. Two of his biggest hits — both recorded against the wishes
of his management — spoke out against social injustice. “If I Can Dream,”
which Presley used to close his famous 1968 “comeback” TV special on
the heels of the assassinations of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and
Robert F. Kennedy, had Presley dreaming “of a better land where all
my brothers walk hand in hand.” He followed it up the following year
with “In the Ghetto,” which told the story of “a poor little baby child”
born in the ghetto who, by song’s end, is gunned down in the street,
while “his mama cries.”

Trump achieved his goal- people knew him by one word- Trump
Trump remains a self- promoter, and a figure of ridicule. He triggers
instant loathing in people that are real.

Elvis ? He earned his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 1960, the hard way.
Served in the military- # Service/branch: United States Army
Years of service: 1958–1960
Rank: Sergeant
Unit: Company A, 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32nd Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Division

Elvis was a product of his culture and his day. He is honored for his talent.
They moved Elvis's star to a protected and honored place, next to the Beatles.

Trump's star is abused and mutilated, each time that Trump does something horrible.

Fame Archives

50 years ago, Elvis had fallen from grace.
But one comeback TV special changed everything.

The (TV) special was a towering success.

Priscilla said it “gave Elvis the confidence that he needed to start performing again.”

Soon thereafter, he was offered a residency in Las Vegas and went on several nationwide tours.

Production Suspended Indefinitely On Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Movie
As Tom Hanks Continues Coronavirus Recovery

March 20, 2020

Baz Luhrmann has confirmed that his Elvis Presley movie, which is set
to star Tom Hanks and Austin Butler, will not begin production next week
in Australia due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The film had been in the advanced stages of pre-production, though was
disrupted when Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for COVID-19,
as we revealed last week. The pair have since updated that they are experiencing
only minor symptoms and are recovering in isolation.

However, Luhrmann took to Twitter today to confirm that the shoot
will be paused while the world tries to contain the virus spread.

The film is set to star Butler as Elvis, with Hanks playing his controlling
manager. Maggie Gyllenhaal is also in the cast as the singer’s mother.

If you were to list the comedians who would rather be a rock star,
who would you pick? Tim Minchin and Nick Helm seem dead certs.
In his show Reset, James Acaster suggests there was a musical road
not taken. But pun-meister general Tim Vine would be near the bottom
of my list . After all, to pun is to be clean and wholesome, witty and
precise – not exactly rock’n’roll is it?

The phrase isn’t “sex, drugs’n’clever wordplay”.

Yet, it turns out that Vine is a hound dog for Elvis Presley – so much so
that he is taking an Elvis tribute act on tour this spring, complete with
five-piece band, quiffed wig and a plastic suit that’s entirely unbreathable.

Trump jeers, and insults New Yorkers, refuses to help, calls Cuomo a liar,
knowing that the city is approaching a full blown pandemic peak.

Is this where Trump's non-bright idea originated ?
Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo officially signed the
executive order on Thursday, and Constitutional Rights flew
out the window- All in the name of stopping the spread of coronavirus.

So much, for Trump telling America "That ain't nothing. Don't worry."
"Just one from Cha-gina."

Rhode Island is using that National Guard to assist State Police in
checking license plates at the border, and tracking NYC people to
impose self isolation and quarantine- $500.00 fine and up to three
months in jail, penalty for defying the order.

ACLU chapter immediately objected to the decree’s onerous nature
on Fourth Amendment grounds.

“While the Governor may have the power to suspend some state laws
and regulations to address this medical emergency, she cannot suspend
the Constitution,” Rhode Island ACLU executive director Steven Brown
said, per Bloomberg. “Under the Fourth Amendment, having a New York
state license plate simply does not, and cannot, constitute ‘probable cause’
to allow police to stop a car and interrogate the driver, no matter how
laudable the goal of the stop may be.”

https://www.mediaite.com/news/rhode...ay-quarantine-for-new-yorkers-entering-state/

To enforce the new restriction, members of the National Guard will be
at Peter Pan and Greyhound bus stops and terminals and at Amtrak train
stations, and the State Police will flag down cars with New York license
plates as they enter the state, Raimondo said.

Brown said the ACLU recognizes that strong measures are needed to
address the coronavirus crisis. “But giving the State Police the power
to stop any New York-registered cars that are merely traveling through
the state is a blunderbuss approach that cannot be justified in light of
its substantial impact on civil liberties," he said.

Colonel James M. Manni, superintendent of the State Police, said troopers
will stop passenger vehicles with New York license plates but not
commercial vehicles or tractor trailer trucks that might be carrying food,
supplies, or medicine.

“This will not affect interstate commerce in the state of Rhode Island,”
Manni said. Officers will ask drivers where they are going and if they
are passing through the state, officers will send them on their way, he said.

Here’s a summary of the latest events:

* Trump and Cuomo clash as president weighs New York quarantine.
The US president floated the idea of an “enforceable quarantine” of parts
of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, an idea which New York’s
governor would later in the afternoon brand “preposterous” and a recipe
for “chaos and mayhem”.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2020/mar/28/coronavirus-news-trump-us-latest-live-updates

THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’re looking at it.
We’re looking at it, and we’ll be making a decision.
A lot of the states that aren’t infected, that don’t have a big problem,
they’ve asked me if I’d look at it. So we’re going to look at it.
And it will be for a short period of time, if we do it at all.

Q Would it be --

THE PRESIDENT: It’ll be New York.

Q Would you call up the national guard?

THE PRESIDENT: It’ll be New York, parts of Connecticut, and parts of New Jersey.

Q And then, do you close down the subway? Do you close down the bridges, the tunnels?

THE PRESIDENT: No, we won’t do that.
We’re talking about leaving New York. Leaving New York.
They go to Florida, and a lot of people don’t want that.
So we’ll see what happens. We’re going to make a decision.

Q Would you use the military for that, sir? Would you call up the guard?

THE PRESIDENT: We’re not going to need much. The people of New York,
they understand it better than anybody, and they’ll be great.

Grovel to your American King, and praise him. Provide him with video clips,

Sen. Chris Murphy weighed in on the drama on Saturday, suggesting
that Whitmer's claim was akin to allegations made against Trump during
his impeachment investigation that disbursement of aid was dependent
upon personal favors being carried out for him.

"Michigan is the new Ukraine," Murphy tweeted.

Some answers, but everyone surrounding Trump lies for him...

*grain of salt*

"Administration aides spent time Saturday explaining to Trump
the quarantine would be impossible to enforce and could cause
more problems, the officials said."

(bodysong comment- Reduced to speculation, on what might, or might not be true.
Why did Trump propose his extreme appoach of using quarantine
for 3 states ? I venture to guess that it gave him a stab at dominating
the news cycle, and thin out the sight of him threatening the lives of
millions of Americans, in order to get flattering sound bites from desperate
governors, for his campaign ads- Ukraine2! The other sour note, is his
boast that he will gag the inspector general that has been tasked with
supervising the spending of stimulis money, and hide the evidence from
congress (how is this to be categorized as Super Secret, and worthy of
entering the vault where Trump is hiding his Impeachment evidence ?)

Trump's quarantine gambit certainly goaded plenty of people.

On Saturday night, Trump said he had decided against a quarantine
and had asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue
a “strong Travel Advisory” for the New York metro area in consultation
with the region’s governors.

“A quarantine will not be necessary,” Trump tweeted. “Thank you!”

"Do it. It will make the Libs scream out loud."

The Secret Service signed a $45,000 “emergency order” to rent golf carts
at President Donald Trump’s Virginia golf club on Monday, according
to The Washington Post.

The agency signed a contract, which it described as an “emergency order,”
to rent 30 golf carts from a West Virginia-registered company called
Golf Cars and Utility Vehicles from April 1 until the end of September,
according to the report.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...d249fe-7449-11ea-85cb-8670579b863d_story.html

Cathy Milhoan, a spokeswoman for the agency, told The Post that
"emergency" did not refer to a security "emergency." "Rather, the
term was used to signal a need for expedited handling of the
procurement due to deadlines within the agency's business processes,"
she told the outlet.

The golf carts were rented in Northern Virginia to protect a "dignitary"
in the town of Sterling, which is where Trump National Golf Club
Washington DC is located.

https://www.salon.com/2020/04/03/se...olf-carts-at-trump-club-amid-pandemic-report/

Trump has spent more than 350 days at his properties since taking office,
according to the outlet’s count, which has cost taxpayers more than $620,000.

The Secret Service alone has spent more than $420,000 on golf cart rentals
alone since Trump took office.

The Post’s David Farenthold noted that golf cart rental contracts like the one
signed by Secret Service this week usually precede Trump’s trips.

“Even during a pandemic, the Service seems to be preparing for presidential golf trips,”
he said.

Statewide, the Black population is getting hit disproportionately hard.
Making up 13% of the state’s population, Black people account for
more than a third of the infections and 40% of the coronavirus-related
deaths.

“We are concerned about how COVID-19 is disproportionately affected
Michigan’s black community,” Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Michigan's chief medical
executive, tells Metro Times. “There is still much to be learned about this disease,
and testing must be expanded in both metro Detroit and the rest of the state so we
can get a better understanding of the true incidence.

We do know that African Americans in Michigan have higher rates of many
chronic illnesses, which is related to underlying social determinants of health
such as poverty, education, housing and transportation. These chronic conditions
are risk factors for becoming more ill from COVID-19. We will continue to work
to get more robust data and testing in the state so we can better understand the disease.”
