My first submission was rejected. I was so upset, I cried like a baby. Then I got busy learning how to bring it up to standard and resubmitted it.

Surely if you have another, better place to post it, you could do that anytime you wish to? You can post Chapter 1 there as well. You can do all that this very afternoon, if you like...

That’s what I did with my stories that weren’t published without editing. Just took the advice left and reworked the paragraphs and quotes and did so with little to no content change. Seems like my work ended up better for it.

I read the reviews. Pretty standard fare, nothing I would characterize as a "rave" review. Commenters on Lit almost always ask for "more" even if you don't label it as part one.

So, just to be clear, your argument has now officially strayed from discussing the shitty system used here to you trying to diminish me as a writer.

Allow me to chime in as I'm a bit more acquainted with this particular issue.

To anyone who's not familiar with the dynamics of this forum, you, veteran AH-ers, sound somewhat hostile and mocking. That's exactly how you sounded to me back when I was a fresh face and when I would criticize something about the way Lit works. The smugness here is all-pervasive.

It's only after I got to know who is who that I realized that most of it isn't intentional, that it's just people's quirks. I suppose it's also possible that I've gotten numb to some of the tone here and that I don't even notice it anymore.

But anyway, my point is that you shouldn't be surprised by the way new people perceive you, especially new people who come to the forum to express some frustration or to seek advice. You may think that you're very kind and helpful, but you're often not, regardless of your intentions. I see @Racoonteur's post mostly as a reaction to that perception.

By the way, I've read his story, both chapters, and I can only say that there's absolutely no underage content in them. The sneaking around that some suspect to be a possible problem isn't really sneaking around at all. The MC's sister is never around when any of the action or innuendos happen. And when I say she isn't around, I mean not even separated by the door or something obstructing the view. She's far away from those scenes physically.

The rejection @Racoonteur suffered is the result of some automated flagging bullshit. The problem is that there's no guarantee that changing any particular part of the story would result in his story going through. The only thing I can advise is to try to change some wording, something he assumes might have triggered an automated system, and resubmit. If it gets rejected, change something else and resubmit. Rinse repeat.

Obviously, only he can tell when such an approach isn't worth the hassle of publishing here. But either way, people should let the man vent, along with all the others who come here to vent and to seek help, but instead find hostility, sometimes unintentional, but sometimes cult-induced and intentional.

Chill the fuck out and let the guy be instead of defending a flawed automated system that has been proven to wrongfully flag a gazillion times already.
