Incest -- what's the appeal?

'Motherfucker' is rarely a compliment. "She was raped by her dad," just about always gets gasps. But it is fascinating the range of relationships that turn people on. If you have experienced involuntary incest, from someone you otherwise love and trust, or need for support, the effect in terms of how you feel about yourself can have big long-term consequences: Choosing abusive mates because you feel too 'dirty' for good ones. Hours of expensive therapy or time spent inside a bottle or a needle. "Do you ever have suicidal ideation"? "Um, of course, doesn't everybody?" OTOH, incest is 'frequent', if not 'normal'. The number of women who have had 'innappropriate sexual advances' from family members is huge. But, ironically, I tip my hat to the men who live with their fantasies about family members who first got them hot. Same goes for gals. Enjoy the playground in your head. Just don't pass it along IRL.

Show me incest between consenting adults who do not live together, and have no power dynamics at play, and you'll see just how uncommon it is. Your comment of "The number of women who have had innappropriate sexual advances' from family members is huge" just means that men are creeping on women the way they do in the rest of their life, and even family is not a safe place girl/women to avoid advances?

He may have been hinting that if you want to bang your mom that you should probably go ahead and gouge your eyes out.
Freud was saying that men who feel like banging their mom's are pretty darn common. Often hard for a human to know where the 'love urge' ends and the 'sexual urge begins' especially for little ones. He probably recognized that for those whose mom's did bang them, (Remember it usually happens that way when someone is under age) the self-loathing is huge and society socially castrates (two round balls, get it?) someone who crosses that line. Curiously, further study of Freud's female patients determined that many had 'hysteria' and 'Electra complexes' because they had been sexually exploited by a relative. And then there are boys that have been raped by their fathers, and girls by their mothers (Yes it happens--Sybil) No handy myths for those.

"even family is not a safe place girl/women to avoid advances?" Statistically, most sexual abuse is from family members.

I'm well aware. I was raised by psychologist, and my spouse was a detective for a decade. As a result I can tell you the classism & misogyny that allowed a label of "hysteria" on girls rather than publicly out their predator fathers & brothers, and the regurgitate the stats on not only family abuse, but down to which cultures in our country tolerate & hide it. Like I said earlier, I cannot suspend my unbelief to even get through a story on here to try to understand why anyone would want to perpetuate the delusion that it's always consensual.

Which was never a real thing. It means "wandering uterus" -- doctors once thought a uterus could move around the body and that would cause trouble. But in fact a woman's uterus stays fixed in place between her hips from birth to death (or to hysterectomy). "Hysteria" really meant "being-a-woman disease," it was the standard diagnosis for any female patient of even slightly unusual emotions.

I just found this. For me incest would be more about wanting to be close to someone I care about be it sister or mom. Being around them but out of sight letting them be there self's as they think they are with just there girlfriends. I could be just as happy hidden under a table with a group of females all wearing pants or them all wearing skirts/dresses. The subject dose not need to be sexual as I would be just as happy hearing them all bitching about there hard day at work, tho it would be enjoyable hearing the "girl talk" being about a sexual subject. I could be just as happy being out of sight as I listen from under a bed or under a lounge chair that would be fully covered.

I would not object if being there hidden puts me in a spot if I was under a bed, might open up to me getting to come out and explore her/them as she sleeps alone or a group of them sleeping... It could also put me in a spot I could explore the sleeping body or bodies.

Also I have seen family members accuse the victim of family sexual assault, of destroying the reputation of the family. They rather keep up appearances and care more about how the family is perceived, rather than helping their family heal.
