We've gone that way before, you know. It was a really bad idea at the time and nothing relevant has changed.

The places that welcome people from all over the world to work hard and contribute ideas and skills, whether it was classical Greece or Samarkand where different cultures of the Silk Road met during medieval times or the Netherlands in the Renaissance or Singapore or the USA's melting pot, they were all vibrant and prosperous because they weren't insular.

Maybe if the USA had been able to keep out those foreigners in the 1930s and 1940s who worked on the Manhattan Project, the world today would be much different!
