Japanese is thirsty for taking a nuclear bomb

I don't know if Japan has the largest stockpile of plutonium or not. I know that some of it is held in foreign countries and is "civilian grade" not military grade, but that is not to say that technically any plutonium couldn't be used to build a bomb under the right conditions, technically any plutonium could be used to build a bomb under the right conditions. Should Japan decide to pursue nuclear weapons, it would very likely become China’s foremost regional target, given the significant shift in the balance of power and security dynamics in East Asia.
First of all they can call in what they need and they do have plenty on hand AND it doesn't take all the much.

Secondly, Los Alamos designed, built, and tested a reactor grade Plutonium device many years ago. It wasn't as efficient as a weapons grade device but it did go boom with sufficient authority to give the National Security folks cold sweats.

I am surprised that as a victorious country in World War II, the United States of America is now in cahoots with the defeated country Japan. You may not know about the Nanjing Massacre, where more than 300,000 innocent civilians were killed by Japanese army, which is understandable, but don't you remember how your Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese back then? How many young lives did you sacrifice to fight against Japan? Has history been lost from your memory like this? Doesn't your American conscience hurt?

Besides, why did the United States of America establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China when you Americans described China so badly? Before establishing diplomatic relations between China and the United States, hadn't both sides already signed important documents to recognize that Taiwan is a part of China, that there is only one China in the world, that the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government of China? Why is the United Nations now represented by the People's Republic of China instead of the small island across the Taiwan Strait? Have you Americans been planning to play tricks on the documents signed by the United States of America itself?

And Japan cannibalized some American soldiers. Japan did a thorough job of making hell in war. And then America nuked two Japanese cities with a higher death toll. But now it's a trading partner, like Taiwan. Americans like money.

You might recall how many Japanese commanders were tried and executed by the United States military after the war for their crimes.

That lecture reads like it was photocopied straight out of a CCP middle-school workbook. The U.S. didn’t recognize Beijing because it suddenly fell in love with communist dictatorships, it did it to box in the Soviets while China was still eating tree bark during the Cultural Revolution. The "One China" language was diplomatic duct tape, not a divine commandment obligating America to applaud every tantrum Xi throws. And the UN seat? That was Cold War realpolitik, not a moral endorsement. So no, America isn’t ‘"laying tricks." It’s just not dumb enough to let a regime that rewrites its own history every six months lecture anyone about signed documents.

It's amusing as to how China thinks it can hold everyone else to THEIR interpretation of documents while they have ignored every court finding and cheated on every agreement.

China and the CCP are nothing more than a criminal syndicate.

They have a parochial interpretation of history as well. ;)

in my best trolling voice:
but they make good dim sum
Of course they do, that’s their whole geopolitical strategy. Step 1: dominate the South China Sea. Step 2: perfect the barbecue pork bun. Step 3: wait for Americans to betray their nation for one more round of shrimp har gow. Honestly, if they ever weaponize dim sum, we’re finished. ;)

I would like to add another important point: the United States has long claimed to be the 'world's policeman,' advocating for justice worldwide. However, as everyone can see, it is far from fair and just in many matters. For example, it can bypass UN authorization to launch bombing and other military actions against sovereign states such as Iran, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and the former Yugoslavia. On the other hand, it turns a blind eye to the various humanitarian disasters caused by Israel in Palestine and even openly uses its veto power in the UN Security Council multiple times to protect Israel. Such behavior has made the world fully aware of what kind of country the United States is. If you had such a neighbor, you would probably want to move away overnight to avoid unnecessary troubles.

I remember that in 1989, when the United States invaded Panama, it captured its national leader General Noriega and sentenced him to nearly 300 years in prison in the U.S. If such a heavy sentence is imposed on an individual who has committed a crime, then sentencing a country that has committed war crimes to a thousand years in prison would not be excessive either?

The reason the U.S. maintains troops in Japan is to properly supervise this defeated nation of World War II, just as a police force supervises a convicted criminal, to prevent its militarism from reviving and once again harming the world. However, from the current situation, it seems that instead of properly reforming the 'criminal' to help it become a better member of society and reduce harm or even create benefits, the police (U.S.) are actually planning to collude with the 'criminal' to bully the innocent people around them. Perhaps the U.S. does not see it this way, but if you understand the Chinese idiom 'the fox borrows the tiger's might,' you will clearly see what is happening.

Of course, there will always be some people with ulterior motives who pretend to be ignorant despite knowing the truth, just as Westerners say, 'You can't wake someone who is pretending to sleep.' Therefore, we must keep our eyes wide open.

Last but not least, let me reiterate my position to everyone: You and I are all ordinary people, we come here to discuss these issues mainly to kill the time, and we neither can nor do represent the official stance of our respective authorities. If we really had the true ability, we wouldn't end up discussing world trends on an adult website.

However, no matter how much people argue, there is one fact that cannot be avoided: China has become strong and has full capacity to independently complete the mission history has bestowed upon it. Whether it's Japan or the United States, if you want to engage in verbal sparring, we will engage in verbal sparring with you; if you want to wage a trade war or a tariff war, we will also stand our ground. If there really comes a day when the two sides meet on the battlefield, we will not show mercy either.

Have a nice weekend and enjoy yourselves!

The USA is a very typical empire, complete with justification that it does something beneficial for the world. It did enough world policing to protect its own trade/extortion interests. Now it's decades past the peak of imperial power. The costs of being the world's bully greatly exceed the revenue, so winding that down and withdrawing from military bases is the best case scenario, better than trying to hold every inch with a military becoming less effective and losing wars against poorly armed and barely trained guerillas with the same guerilla tactics that have destroyed imperial armies since the beginning of civilization.

China tried to become an empire and misfired. It can't sustain its own population and won't be conquering anyone for a while. It still tries to swagger, but the big stick diplomacy is starting to fail as China loses its big stick.

Your portrayal of China as a stabilizing, morally upright counterweight to American power is unpersuasive. A careful analysis requires acknowledging all the facts: mass internment and coercive assimilation campaigns in Xinjiang; the systematic dismantling of Hong Kong’s political autonomy; aggressive military posturing around Taiwan; boundless cyber-theft of intellectual property; and the militarization of the South China Sea in direct violation of international rulings. These are not the actions of a state motivated by “justice” or “historical destiny,” but of a rising power seeking regional hegemony through coercive means. Any serious comparison between American and Chinese conduct must consider these realities rather than dismiss them.

Your analogy of the United States “supervising a criminal” and Japan “borrowing the tiger’s might” relies on folkloric metaphor rather than historical accuracy. Post-war U.S.–Japan security arrangements did not exist to “police” a defeated nation, but rather to prevent a security vacuum in East Asia, restrain Soviet expansion, and maintain regional stability. Framing the alliance as a disguised form of manipulation ignores the decades of mutually beneficial cooperation, Japan’s democratic consolidation, and its emergence as one of the world’s most stable and responsible actors.

You have listed a bunch of so-called bad things China has done. Do you really think others cannot list the same or even more serious things the United States has done? Those who stand fifty steps away from the trouble laugh at those who stand a hundred steps; the crow mocks the pig for being black. China has existed for at least five thousand years, while the United States has been around for roughly three hundred years. When it comes to the ways of survival and development, objectively speaking, it would be better to listen more to China's wisdom. You need to understand the principle that fortune changes hands, and also grasp the logic that emperors take turns ruling, and next year it might be anybody's turn. Don't forget what your founding fathers Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Patrick, Hamilton did to the British rulers. Don't talk about power vacuum—when there are people present, how could there ever be a vacuum? @Rightguide @Chernosoth
@milfylata It seems you have a lot of experience in this field. But as we say in Chinese, 'those who talk about others' faults are themselves at fault.' There is also a similar saying in the West about 'thieves crying wolf.'

China is a dying nation.

ch_popgraph2024.jpg

That is China's population distribution by age and sex. There is a significant over population of males and the birth rate as virtually collapsed. The last significant cadre of military aged men is aging out of the population within the next 3 years. Their cheap labor advantage is disappearing as well, there just isn't going to be the labor force that brought them to the peak growth years. Further, there is ample evidence that even the above population is inflated. China has stopped publishing their population statistics but before that happened they revised the numbers downwards on three occasions.

If gxnn is indeed the young Chinese female that her avatar would indicate she shouldn't be here, she should be popping out babies as fast as she can for the good of her nation. Bend the curve on that fertility rate girl. Get off the pill, get off lit, and spend your time on your back with your legs in the air.

China is in such deep shit because it forgot the lessons and wisdom that kept it relatively stable for millennia. It destroyed the systems of village resilience and agricultural sustainability that limited collapse in its ambition to become an empire, partly due to it being conquered by the British Empire. It developed that wisdom in a long period of geographic isolation, which could eventually return as we leave the industrial age.

China didn't forget, its history was purposely destroyed by Mao and the CCP. Does the phrase "unburdened by what has been" ring a bell with you. That thought is at the core of Communist Philosophy, it is based on the notion that the past must be destroyed in order to move forward. To a great extent that is what the Cultural Revolution was about. As of late the CCP seems to be reversing itself on that philosophy, trying to 'unring the bell' as it were.

IF you look around you can see elements of that same perverse philosophy manifesting itself closer to home.

That's absolutely ridiculous! Why bother with charts and data to deceive people.

Didn't you forget that at the beginning of this year, when the U.S. government wanted to ban TikTok, how many American influencers registered new accounts on China's Xiaohongshu (Red Note) and interacted genuinely with Chinese users, thereby learning a lot of facts and truths, and then realized that for so many years, Western media have always been biased and selectively reporting.

It's true that China has become an aging society, but aren't Japan, the United States, and European countries also facing the same issue? Look at the ages of the two U.S. presidents in the past decade when they were in office. Why do your country's excellent, vigorous citizens have to revolve around these two elderly men? Is it because they lack ability, ideas, and awareness?

Looking at the recent record-breaking government shutdown in the United States, does this reflect what the No. 1 capitalist and industrialized country should be like? The exile governments of France during World War II and the current exile government of Bangladesh are not as unreliable as yours.

@TO whom it may concern
