If I were queen of the world, it would be 16, but I'm not so I'll deal with it as it is. If it WERE 16, then we'd have people complaining that they lost their virginity at 15 and the age of consent in New Mexico is 14 so what's the big deal...

Actually, Hawaii was the last state to raise the age of consent from 14 to 16, doing so in 2001. Before that was Georgia in 1995. Then there are Romeo and Juliet laws that lower that age in limited circumstances.

Also, at least in the US, the law is pretty clear that portrayal of underage sex in media is legal, as long as the actors seen performing the acts are actually of legal age. This is true for both fiction and non-fiction.

Yep, exactly. In Stephen King's "The Stand" a preteen girl is repeatedly raped and barbed wire used in a way that I won't even post on here and yet it's ok and he's one of the biggest authors in the world because it isn't "Erotica"

It's a lot of fun to point out to those folks that the most common age of consent in the US is 16.

I've been accused of a lot, simply for knowing that age of consent and age of majority are two different things.

And several states have Romeo and Juliet laws where a person over 18 having sex with a minor above the age of consent is OK as long as the age gap is relatively narrow. Usually 3 years or so.
An 18 year old HS Senior dating a 16 year old sophomore shouldn't end up on the sex offender registry for a consensual relationship.

Yeah, another story "Eyes of the Dragon" has a king bedding his queen who I think is 14 or something. If that wasn't bad enough, I read that he wrote the fucking story for his preteen daughter

I've tried to write my stories as stories, and not strokers with just gratuitous sex. I try to make the sex scenes relevant to making a point in the character building.

For example, in my last story "A Band of Sisters and Brothers", the initial sex scene is used to show her taking control of him. It demonstrates her assertive character in their relationship. EDIT: Shortly after that initial BJ, he relates "We had sex, with condoms." and I leave it at just that, because there was no point to be made other than they had safe sex.

It's perfectly legal to write about underage sex. It's perfectly legal to have adult actors portray underage characters that have sex. It doesn't matter if it's fiction or documentary, it's all perfectly legal.

Well, King is a total panster, so he has no written-down plot more than a general idea when he starts writing. Hence, so many dropped characters, abandoned subplots, and characters who serve no purpose at all.

You are forgetting that a large part of the 'noncon' set it reluctance. Having to be to be forced to perform in a certain way is a large part of BDSM, if you get past the masochistic, 'beat me, fuck me, make me feel good' idea. Humiliation in many stories is non-consensual in many ways. Look at the 'forced' feminizaton stories in transgender.
I consider noncon a catch-all type category and write there often.
