Seems to me that the whole idea of green energy is to get the energy from something OTHER than fossil fuels to produce the electricity. Solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, etc.

As for burning fuel to produce electricity, yes, we'll certainly have to do that for some time, though clean energy is growing every year. But even so, it may be cleaner to burn fossil fuels in a low-emission power plant and use that energy to power a non-polluting electric car than to put fossil fuels in gas guzzlers and choke on their exhaust fumes.

My mother was a strong woman when my parents divorced. For religious reasons she submitted to my masculine stepfather for her next forty years. I called her the day after he died, expecting to have to console her.

Nope. She was having great time. He was a millstone around her neck. He was a paper tiger tough guy who always needed to call the shots. He was so sure of himself that he was blind to his faults - a true masculine man.

He gave most of their wealth to the church trying to buy a stairway to heaven. I wonder if he got there. My mom is doing okay now but since she was the younger of the two (by only a few years) he expected her to take care of him once he retired and settled into his armchair.

She didn’t even cry at his funeral.
