This is so off-putting...

I've had 4 chapters of a story posted and didn't have to wait past a week until I asked for it to be deleted and submitted the re-edited version. It's been 3 weeks now...

I want to ask for feedback on the current one that's still up (non-con category), but haven't gotten many replies. I get there are people who don't like things from that category, but it's kind of put me off writing for the time being. I've only started taking writing seriously in the past 2 months.

Have you tried asking for feedback in the story feedback forum?

Posting links to the stories would also help.

Edits always take a long time, they're low priority for the site.

As THBGato says, open a thread in the Feedback Forum. You won't get much response, but maybe more than readers who leave comments.

Most readers don't know the forums exist, and probably wouldn't care anyway. They're not really here to contribute, only to consume. I've never commented on a porn video. Neither of the times I watched one.

There are some readers who engage, but finding them is largely a matter of luck and persistence. I posted a 21-chapter series here when I first started, and got a total of four comments.

You have to stick with it, keep publishing stories and build a following. Engage on the forums, interact in the discussions, make friends. Most writers would rather be writing - or wasting time in the AH while pretending to be writing - than reading someone else's stories purely to provide feedback. That's too much like homework getting in the way of the hobby.

Besides the huge luck factor, feedback is also something that you earn. Through the quality of your writing - good or bad - or the stories you write or the goodwill of readers and other writers. Put in the hard work, and the feedback will come.

Thanks. This comment made me a bit more hopeful!

For future reference, you'll save yourself a lot of aggravation and frustration by making sure you edit your story thoroughly BEFORE publishing.

Edit submissions to replace an already published story can take several weeks or longer before theyre published. Theyre considered low priority.

Yep. I thought I was happy with it but then people asked for longer chapters. Then I went back and saw i could flesh out characters/add more to scenes.

"Neither of the times I watched one." he he

"Acting was sub-par, audio quality mediocre, and plot was full of holes. There's no way a repair man would come out that fast."
"Being a washing machine repairman myself, I'm pleased to see the rising popularity of my profession in your videos. However, I feel compelled to point out that the tools carried by "Chad" in your production "MILF Trapped In The Washing Machine" are not quite what a professional would use. I will refrain from commenting on his actions, because I understand that some licence must be given for the plot to work. However, I hope that you will take my feedback about the mechanics of the profession on board in future works..."

Never mind. At this point, I've waited for over a month just for old chapters to be deleted so I can post a new one. No one replies to me no matter how I try asking for them to look into this. So sadly, I'm going to leave this site. Maybe I'll come back if i get email notification that something has happened. So disappointing. Thanks for nothing @Laurel @Manu

It's a site-wide problem affecting quite a few people - there's a backlog of pending stpries due to some kind of glitch which the site has not communicated on - and a LOT of people have had edits submitted for weeks, if not months, which have NOT been processed. It's a pain in the ass and for sure it's pushing people away from the site. Wait and see - it's still the site with the most readers after all.

That said, as far as your stats go, you submitted in July/August, new author (so an unknown), the name of your story is fairly generic so its not going to draw eyes.

Rule of thumb is a catchy primary title and a secondary title for each chapter that has some sort of hook in it that draws the reader. That rimary and secondary title are ALL you have to draw a reader in on Literotica seeing as theirs no thumbnail cover images allowed so you have ti maximize your impact and hook with the few words you have available. Juyst because you post it doesnt mean readers will read it - you have to really do something to draw their attention to you story and make them WANT to read more.

All of that said you got almost 7k views on your first chapter and 3 comments (rule of thumb is one comment per 1000 views) but that's hit and miss. You picked up 19 followers which is not bad for 2 months, without much sex at all - given that it is erotica - and that each of your chapters is rather short. You also have three red "H"s which is no mean accomplishment either. You'd get better ratings with more sex / more eroticism and with a few more words - a Lit page is 3500 words approx, and unless its intended as a real short you'd be better aiming for maybe 2 LIT pages per chapter. Now myzself I am very wordy - 7k words for me is an intro, but I am out there at the other end of the bell curve - I know everyone else will laugh at me - but aim for a little longer in length - give your readers something to get into with each chapter.

Also, you will hardly ever get any useful feedback from readers, apart from telling you they like it. Useful feedback is like hens teeth here. If you get any, it's a miracle and you are really lucky.

The main thing is, don't give up. What you posted was a good start here but you really need to work on your writing and build that story out - I skimmed thru and it seems an interesting scenario to me, and the only way to do that is to write - i think it was Stephen King said yuo need to write a million words before you even think of publishing or whatever. Something like that anyhow - so look at Literotica as a place to write that milion words and get better. The important thing is not to give up - you have barely scartched the surface, you already have 19 followers! Thats actually pretty good, and the readers that commented obviously like your start. It takes a while to build up, so just keep writing, accept the site has flaws (it does but that's life) and just keep at it.

Oh man, if only I could post the new re-written chapters that have way more words and details. Sigh.

Have written up to chapter 11 now and still going back and re-editing some things.

Yiu still could - the edits will catch uop eventually and hinestly, most people don't go back and re-read edited chapters anyhow, so you won't lose to much.

My take would be just go ahead and submit the new ones - just not all at once. Spread them out a little
