I've had 4 chapters of a story posted and didn't have to wait past a week until I asked for it to be deleted and submitted the re-edited version. It's been 3 weeks now...

I want to ask for feedback on the current one that's still up (non-con category), but haven't gotten many replies. I get there are people who don't like things from that category, but it's kind of put me off writing for the time being. I've only started taking writing seriously in the past 2 months.

Edits always take a long time, they're low priority for the site.

As THBGato says, open a thread in the Feedback Forum. You won't get much response, but maybe more than readers who leave comments.

It's a lucky dip. Your story has to really grab readers to get feedback in the forum. It's slow moving, for sure.

Most readers don't know the forums exist, and probably wouldn't care anyway. They're not really here to contribute, only to consume. I've never commented on a porn video. Neither of the times I watched one.

There are some readers who engage, but finding them is largely a matter of luck and persistence. I posted a 21-chapter series here when I first started, and got a total of four comments.

You have to stick with it, keep publishing stories and build a following. Engage on the forums, interact in the discussions, make friends. Most writers would rather be writing - or wasting time in the AH while pretending to be writing - than reading someone else's stories purely to provide feedback. That's too much like homework getting in the way of the hobby.

Besides the huge luck factor, feedback is also something that you earn. Through the quality of your writing - good or bad - or the stories you write or the goodwill of readers and other writers. Put in the hard work, and the feedback will come.

If you have it in you, you can also try writing something out of the usual range of erotica. For example, the first story of mine that generated multiple comments at once was Love at First Sight.

For future reference, you'll save yourself a lot of aggravation and frustration by making sure you edit your story thoroughly BEFORE publishing.

Edit submissions to replace an already published story can take several weeks or longer before theyre published. Theyre considered low priority.

Yep. I thought I was happy with it but then people asked for longer chapters. Then I went back and saw i could flesh out characters/add more to scenes.

Hey its a learning process. Trust me, ive made similar mistakes.
