A young black man walking in a white neighborhood after dark will have his feelings hurt. As he walks down the sidewalk people will cross the street to avoid his approach. People will roll up the windows of their cars and lock the doors of their cars. Children will be told to stop playing in the front yard and to come inside. Nevertheless, that young black man will almost certainly not be physically hurt. He would be safer than he would be walking in a black neighborhood after dark.

Never heard of redlining? There is no good reason why there are black neighborhoods AT ALL. You can at least somewhat justify Asian and Latino if you squint hard enough. The same thing that happened with Europeans early on in our history. The myth of "My father came here and learned the language!" Is just that. A myth. If that wasn't the language in their homeland they either learned it there magically OR they came to America and joined a community that could help them. Did some of them become passable in English? Sure. That shit was not the norm we have enough science to know its near impossible to become proficient in a new language past a certain age. More importantly I'm really curious how you think they survived long enough to learn the language. I'm no expert on biology but I'm good enough to know you can only go I think its three days without water and seven without food. These are slight exaggerations mind you but lets stay on subject. I also know there aren't too many places in the US that you would survive long (Especially back in the day) without shelter. So. . .yeah.
We also conveniently don't talk about white on white crime. Nor Latino on Latino, Asian on Asain. I'm using broad inaccurate terms here partially intentionally to save time. Also the FBI data doesn't label if you were Chinese, Japanese, Korean, English, Spanish, French, German, Mexican, Panamanian, Venezuelan etc. We kill the people we live with and one group of people ran the country. Sorry RUN the country and I really shouldn't be using the past tense here. So the fact that people quite literally could not intergrate communities until the late seventies LEGALLY and it took years after that before people weren't working around it. As recently as 2010 banks have been caught doing it. Which. . .yeah.
Then we can talk about where the jobs were located. The way districts are drawn and thus political power to invest certain neighborhoods. Something we are seeing in the entire South most specifically Texas is an attempt to wrench back what little power POCs have.
Now before you cry your tears White Guilt is a term conservatives made up that has no basis in reality. You shouldn't feel guilt for what your ancestors did, at least not in any real sense of the word. Though it is interesting that you simultaneasly bear none of the guilt for your ancestors in the 60s and prior actively holding down people of color. At the same time your more than happy to tell me all about how your family has fought in every American War even before we were America. Damian Alfred Wayne III defeated the Native Americans in the French Indian War. Why do only positive things get inherited? However WE. I repeat WE absolutely have an obligation to make America a better place than it was before.
This is also why MAGA cannot define when America was great. Even asking that gets attacks of "Love it or Leave it" you could at least ask when we think it was great before acting like children. Cus one year ago give or take we were pretty much the best we had ever been and getting better all the time. Taxes were higher. They don't want that. We were investing heavily in our schools and social programs. They don't want that. Some will offer manufactuering but that's been declining for more than a century at this point. That ship has sailed and it ain't coming back. Can we get more vital stuff built here and should we? YES. But the time where America makes most of its own stuff is never coming back. ITS CRYSTAL CLEAR WHAT MAGA MEANS. We've seen it. Build the wall. Eating cats and dogs. Murderers, rapists and theives are coming here. Shit hole countries. We're just bombing Venezuelans for the luls. Cus even if they WERE drug dealers, which we have no evidence for that would loads of overkill. I think he spoke about war on Mexican cartels but at least you can pretend that's about the drugs. ITs really about him wanting to prove he has a penis so. . .okay a pass. Though there is a reason why Republicans aren't calling him out.

I don't know about JohnEngelman, but there are people here who definitely haven't. Memorably, one of them denied its very existence because he couldn't remember reading about it in any of his Thomas Sowell books. (Yeah, I know that sounds like a joke, as does a lot of what we see from the right-wingers here. But he really said it!)
Types like that ^ ("Good MAGAts") insist they’re "NOT RACIST!!!", then go on to demonstrate they ACTUALLY ARE RACIST by promoting / co-signing racist ideologies and narratives - and by denying or ignoring the historical record of white racism / discrimination against black Americans, etc,

I wish it sounded like a joke but I absolutely believe it was said. Or 'its been 'x' years why haven't you all fixed it yet. Look at the entire fucking South. Its been 160 years and they have not recovered economically. They still fly Confederate Flags so they haven't gotten over it emotionally. I don't hate the Bushes, McCain or Romney. Its like the Right had a. . .not super bad period but part of that is my age and I grew up where the Dems stop trying to be Left and tried to get along which made it a lot harder to to get a hate on. Nixon, Reagon and Trump and lets be perfectly honest they weay the vote for senators and representatives shows they absolutely insist on making the fact that their great-great-great-grandfather lost a war OUR fucking problem. When we look at polling whether its minimum wage, health care, gun control, war (Which nobody is entirely against) and we could show more issues its not that they don't want what's being sold. Its that dragging the rest of us down is more important than helping themslves.
This is why whether or not its true in the most technical sense Blacks can't be 'racist" we can't drag the rest of you down with us even if we wanted. We lack that kind of power and that's not JUST in politics. That's also in business. Its a fucking numbers game and a money game.

I really try. All the lines are really thin, a lot of the time it doesn't mean you had a negative thought at all. Its a really complex issue and I have done some research but I'm not a published author or anything. The problem is huge and it often ends up accidentally or intentionaly bleeding into other places or ends up getting defeated by issues that are adjacent. I'm not going to claim the class war hasn't been real since day one but there where definitely times when it was nobody's top issue. I see a lot of people post variations of "They keep us stuck in culture wars so we won't fight the class war". Problem being as far as important issues the various cultures wars are longer issues. History has shown that if a minority group drops their issues to help lets be frank. Whites. Solve what is a collective issue they are absolutely not going to pay it back. They will without missing a step go back. Makes trust hard.

I’m not woke, I have never been asleep. As a child a third of my class was Jewish. The only time the rest of us saw them as different was when they would get off for school for Jewish Holidays and Christian Holiday. My first black classmates were in 8 grade and we got along great. At college my values were developed and I essentially am the person I was then, with further development or course
I’ve been an advocate and at times an activist for social justice issues most of my life.
I work a few hours a week as a consultant to a department store chair trying to make a profit while losing so much shortage. That is a story for another day.
What I did witness several times was SOME Black American berating an employee and accuse them of racism when there was no evidence of any racial. The customer didn’t like what they head and played the race card. That bothers me because it cheapins the real race card when it should be used. I like the diveristy of people.There is always something to learn and appreciate.
