Your favorite tropes!

As a counterpoint to the Most Hated Tropes thread, by @FidelityBoss, what are your favorites?

In the past, as an artist in other mediums, I always strove for originality, and when I arrived here, realized it was largely impossible in erotica. Over time I realized that the tropes were something to be embraced and enjoyed. Putting our own spin on them was the best we could expect to do.

So as you've grown into your writing career, which of the tropey story ideas has grabbed your interest the most?

The lusty librarian, the naughty nurse, or the most classic bow-chicka-wow-wow of porn plots, the housewife and the plumber?

For me, being a reader of these threads, I've noticed that the writer/reader dynamic closely resembles the Dominant/submissive dynamic in an ethical TPE, My newest prose, Spoon Fed takes the BDSM script and flips it.

I probably overuse the 'reluctant or naive straight girl who discovers she enjoys lesbian sex' trope... if that counts as a trope. I get the impression that it's less relevant or resonant with some younger readers, although I'm not sure if that's because of lessened stigma for girls loving girls making it less relatable than for Gen X/Millennials, or a sample bias implicit in the audience, who have self-selected to read certain types of smut.

That is the definition of a consensual TPE - the writer cannot exist without a reader and the reader cannot exist without the writer.

I think it's partly due to changing mores over the last couple decades -- lesbian no longer being the Other that it was just a few decades ago -- and also due to the wide range in quality of such stories. There are excellent stories out there of straight girl discovers lesbian sex, but there's also legions of horrible takes on this subject.

Mine's a simple one - cowgirl. To me it is representative of a confident and strong woman initiating and taking charge of the intimacy and the expressions of love with her guy, with no ambiguity.

"Torn between two lovers" - a somewhat inexperienced main character finds themselves with two very different branches to take in life, and has choose one or the other. I especially like it if I can tweak it so that there is no clear right or wrong choice. It gives me (and hopefully the reader) something to ponder, and also a variety of types of sex.

I enjoy the sibling relationship trope, where already loving siblings discover another type of love for one another. Sometimes it can be both their first time, other times, an experienced sibling in a protective/comforting manner with the inexperienced sibling. No marriage, no breeding, no power play. Just appreciative of having one another in each others life.

I like the MILF next door stories. But oddly enough, the best friends mom's stories bring out a type of jealousy(?) in me. In that, I am thinking about the impact on the son, 'why is mom fucking my friend Jake and not me'?

The slutty schoolgirl and the student/teacher dynamic is something that I can't seem to escape from. However, ever since I wrote an entire novel revolving a pizza delivery girl, I am really fond of this trope. It has lead me into as many implausible scenarios as the implausibility of this ever happening to a delivery person, and it was really fun to write.

I'm also fond of biker girls and cowboy cops; you know, the Harry Bosch type. They've been a staple of my fiction since before erotica.

Older women who go after what they want and leave the young men ridden hard and put away with one hell of a story to tell.

As I recently demonstrated with the event I ran, I'm always a sucker for sex for money storylines

Non erotic

The former killer trying to lead a normal life and someone fucks with them or someone they've grown close to.

The grizzled old dog who's challenged and has one more good fight in them

Any story where mafia cowards, which is all they are, get ruined by....well, anyone

My favorites are enemies to lovers and friends to lovers. Particularly if they stay enemies or friends after the sex.

I also like forced closeness, shower sex, blowjobs, and strangers exploring an intense attraction.

Sexually proficient but innocent seeming female MC is another.

Women who are deeply emotionally connected to the world.

People who have been damaged by life but are working towards healing.

Introspective main characters who explore why they want what they want.

Younger woman teaching older man or woman how to let go of tension in their life.

Longing for a particular person.

Older characters who come across as mentors or parental replacements for a younger character to learn from.

Dark connections full of lust and power plays.

Demons.

Mirrors, particularly used in horror stories.

Seduction.

Comfort.

Control.

Bondage or Shibari. Particularly when used for emotional comfort through the feeling of restriction. (It can have a similar sensation to what happens when you scruff a kitten, just pure and total relaxation of the body.)

Kitten play.

Costumes.

Dollification (I love the idea of being bound beneath clothing for that relaxed sensation above combined with someone dressing a woman up, fixing her hair and make-up and posing her for photos and/or sex, consensually.)

CNC.

Power dynamics.

Candaulism.

Knife/needle play.

Hair pulling.

Bent over desks.

Office shenanigans.

There's not many tropes I'm not fond of, to be honest.
