The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I’ve been looking at that Marlin for around 6 months…shoulda got it last spring at $800 n change. Now I’m seeing $1000 even on them. They’ve gotten great reviews from all the gun bubbas on the U-Toob. I want the .30-.30 cal
Nothing wrong with the .30-.30. I have several of them. Ended up with the 45-70 after a long debate about slow heavy bullets vs. brush in places we hunt.

Surprisingly, I've found the 45 to ruin less meat than faster smaller calibers on quartering shots. It makes a .45 cal hole all the way through. The smaller high velocity stuff has a larger shock pattern and messes stuff up more. Who knew???

Honestly, the biggest reason for a lever gun is how much easier it is to carry in one hand while walking/stalking. Most bolts feel like trying to carry the Thomas Inch dumbbell after a little way. The levers can be gripped and held onto so much better.

He was your best friend

Yeah, he kind of inserted himself into that role. The only thing was we couldn’t hang out together under a roof unless I went to sleep in the barn which I never did.

I saw a video one time where the woman’s horse was standing on the front porch waiting for her to come out. That was pretty funny.

Thanks y’all. I’ve always heard when the elderly have a nasty fall, they just never seem to get better. Hopefully she’ll buck the trend. Fingers crossed!

Thanks again for the support.

Fortunately, I have not had that experience with Dr Tyler.

Yet.

Best wishes with your old people, and take care of you!

You know, from one horrible person to another….

Ah the immortal Gary Larsen👍👍👍👍👍
I bet syrup gets a line through it. Vinegar off a dusks back….
I bought a 4$ newspaper not too long ago.
The comics and crossword were political and unfun. The sudoku was 4 stars and so easy I did it in a few minutes.
There was a day I was able to enjoy 2 or 3 news papers a day. After reading this one I saw it as proof the internet did not ruin the newspaper.
Gary knew exactly when to make his exit.

Everyone loving it as much as I am? 🫢
Just ooo and ah. It's okay. The boys will love it.

Piffle. Cats who have done nothing all day are vastly more tired, and one of them snores to prove it.
Very on-brand for 🐱
Still could stand to roll back over and go back to sleep like Ethyl would. Yeah.
Me - any day ending in Y
Miss the old horse this morning. Kinda funny how that comes up sometimes.
Yep - like a sneaky ocean wave. Comes at you all calm and quiet... next thing you know - your feet have been swept out from under you. 🫂
I think I’ve relayed the story of how I had an MRI and found out I was claustrophobic
I think this is pretty common tbh. Were staff kind to you as this realization hit out of the blue?
Does your area have Open MRI as an option?

Pretty sure I have some mild Situational Claustophobia depending on the MRI. When they lock your head in that cage? It spikes. When you just lie there and hold still without anything braced or strapped down? Much more manageable.
So this is why animal testing was banned by so many companies ;)

I have win11pro on all of my machines. Can't say I love it because they won't let you choose to install updates. I loath the random reboots they replaced blue screen crashes with. Otherwise hasn't been any issues for me. Initially I did look up ways to make the right click popup menus normal and show all the icons in the systray and stuff like that. But MS always moves stuff behind three extra clicks and calls it productive.

Ugh…back from the 4 hr slog…they gave that poor woman 3…THREE MRI’s today! She told me she had done it but when she got out her hair was a mess and she said, NEVER AGAIN! I think she confused a CT scan w an MRI…I would have said something but she said she’d done it…

We do have an Open MRI but only one serving an area of 375k people. It’s booked out six months. If I ever have to do another..I’ll wait the Six!😂

Yeah, found out in short order I was claustrophobic! My head entered that bell (I went feet first mind you) and I…well lets just say I undid all the straps and pillow work those nurses did! 😂. I heard the machine whirl up…then it spooled down. Nurse came in and asked if I was going to be her problem child…I managed to get through that but the second one I did, I didn’t have to go in as far and I didn’t wear the headphones they gave me…she said that helps. It sorta-kinda did.

I’ll be calling the Open machine if ever again…

Feel like I'm late to the rodeo
or the gun show 🔫
Confession: I skip reactions on a lot of the gun posts because I don't really know anything about guns, rifles, or ammo

They always dick you with the details, man ☹️

Sounds lovely! I love a good walk in the rain!!

Bummer... on the bright side... you were there for it and it was an oil rig and not MacD or something obscuring your view 🤷‍♀️

Still the Office Overachiever I see 🤨

Thank you - spared me a rabbit hole

My dad had a short love affair with a Triumph when I was about 12 years old. Bold for a man w/ 8 kids at the time. :ROFLMAO:

I was going to agree wholeheartedly - thought we were still talking cars 🤭

My wrists are messed up enough from computer keyboarding. I certainly don't have any business firing something that could shatter them... or my skull b/c clearly a safety helmet is also needed for this one?!?

I hope the only time you use it is at the range... for fun

My dad used to do that all the time.
7, 8, 9pm - movie starts
20 min start of film - dad's awake
middle of the movie - dad: 🥱🤤
20 min end of film - dad's awake
Dad: I don't see why folks thought this was such a good movie

Nothing worse than a lying weasel
I 💖 love a gun that'll kick the sh#@ out of me... I cal it "recoil therapy" and need some badly right now!

I have two guns that I have never fired. I have an 1873 Springfield Trapdoor. Technically it’s Mrs Wonderers. Shes never fired it either. It’s been in her family for ages. It’s 45-70, but you have to use government rounds for it. The new hotter loads are too much for it.

I also have a 1954 Baretta made m1 Garand that was made for the danish army. It’s slightly rare. It’s so nice and in such good shape I’ve never had the heart to fire it. It’s gorgeous. I’m sure it’s been fired before but has almost no wear.

I have a 1953 Polish made Mosin Nagant M44 carbine. It had to have been unfured. It was just when they were moving over to SKS and then to AK47s, so I think there’s a good chance it was never fired. Beautiful walnut finish. But I did fire it a few times.

I said hotter loads…
Don't get me wrong, as I've got several that I've never fired, but "you'll have that" when you buy 2 crates at a time. 🤣🤣

Man, I have a stack of shit I have yet to fire. Dayum.

Work was annoying. Got inspections - 3 for 3. I called in for no more tomorrow. I have some shit to figure out, so I'ma do that. And I'm tookening myself to lunch tomorrow. I may lose both my sprinkler crew and my drywall crew to the job I came from. These were all things they could be just about wrapped up with IF shitferbrainz had done something other than fingering his fucksticks for the last 6 motherfucking weeks.

I may have to go over there and tell motherfucker that Bo digs 14 feet . . . .

Time for a new PC. Lol

I use Linux mint. Don't tell Bill
It’s sorta the perfect middle ground.

I actually don’t have a laptop rn. I do t know if that’s a good thing or bad.

Fuck Bill.

It's a good place to be. I like the cheap bit. It's all backed up to the cloud. No bitching. I got a new one, plugged in my password, and everything was still there like it was the old machine.
