The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

It's another beautiful sunny morning with no rain in sight. The grass has greened up but if it doesn't rain again soon, it will be for nought. On a personal note, I'm feeling better today. The back pain is totally gone and the hip pain is nearly gone. I believe it was all caused by my trying to take my statin drug again for the cholesterol. I am unfortunately one of those poor souls who get myalgia from taking statins.

In any event, there's a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are donuts and pastries on the counter and kilts and bagpipes over in the corner for those who want to indulge.

I'll be over in my usual corner working on my story, now that I'm feeling better. My Muse may try to pick a fight with me but I'm feeling feisty today so she better look out ...

Weather here should be calm, dry, and sunny through the rest of the work week. The Balloon Fiesta starts Saturday, and forecasts call for dry conditions into next week. The end of the event could be rainy, but those long-term, super-regional forecasts aren't worth much.

I have a doctor's appointment this morning, so that will shorten the time I have available for staring at the word processor and not writing.

Alllll righty then! I have 3 stories in pending and a fourth will soon join it. (I don't know if two of them count, they're edit/updates to existing stories)

One of my stories was a story I teased almost 4 years ago and finally got around to writing it. I wonder if anyone remembers that I promised it.

I'm going to be over in that corner --> I'm going to give the chapters in this latest effort names. I've been told people like that kind of thing. Only interrupt me with refills.

I've had exactly the opposite reaction on chapter names. I take that to mean that I can do what I want, which I would probably do anyway.

Then you probably shouldn't just do what you want.
This is for a new website where a reader subscribes to an author's work and gets a chapter a week. My publisher asks that chapters be about 3k words in length. There's a few writers from here involved and we're hoping it will be a success. If you want in, let me know.

I've seen similar concepts advertised on BlueSky: subscribe to an author and get access to several ongoing serials, each on a different subject.

On one hand, it seems like a great idea if you want to produce serial content. On the other hand, it seems like a throwback to magazines from the 1930's and earlier. It worked then so why not now?

You are definitely not alone, CK. C had to call 911 after I had collapsed doing yard work after the doctor put me on Crestor. One doctor I talked to said the population with fatigue, myalgia, and rhabdomyolysis from statins is far larger than the pharmaceutical companies admit to; this doc said about 15-20%. I worked with my cardiologist about newer formulations and we found a couple that didn't bother me, Zocor being one.

Unwatching bunches of threads.

Seriously? You've been saying this or similar for a while, so why are you still here? Happy to have your meaningful participation here in the idle and not-so-idle chatter among friends; after all, it is a round table over coffee or tea, a "What's on your mind at the moment?" exchange.

Like I said, if you want to contribute, great, but if you're just going to stand there leaning against the doorframe taking potshots, ehh, not so much.

My BP is good for a 45-year old. My pulse is typical for an athlete. The doctor shifted my appointment schedule from once every six months to once a year. I'm good.

My wife doesn't even want to know those things any more.

I should get a primary care physician so I can find out the bad news.
