Sunday’s mass murder at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, which left at least four worshippers dead and eight wounded, was just one of six mass shootings that erupted across the US over a weekend of gun horror.

The Gun Violence Archive, an online non-profit database which records mass shootings in America, added six fresh incidents over Saturday and Sunday. The concentrated bloodletting, spread out across four states, took the lives of nine people, including the suspect in Sunday’s shooting at Grand Blanc’s Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church, as well as injuring at least 33.

The weekend’s spate brings the archive’s tally of mass shootings – defined as events with at least four victims injured or killed, not counting the shooter – to 324 this year alone, as of Monday morning. That is a rate of more than one a day.

How many were in Portland?

"An estimated 17,140 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes from January through June 2025"

"The number of deaths for June 2025 is estimated to be 3,420."

Anti gun fanatics don't give a shit about human lives. All they care about is screaming about guns which kill way less people than vehicles do.

Despite guns being "designed to kill", vehicles designed to be as safe as possible, and guns outnumbering vehicles around 2 to 1.

Never mind how many crimes are stopped or self defense cases there are using guns, with estimates being between hundreds of thousands to millions of cases per year.

And pool owners are more likely to drown in their pools than people who don't have pools. 😄
Have you ever wondered why people who live in countries without gun violence literally never ask "Should we have more guns?"

Why do you think that is?

It's the same reason they're not asking 'why don't we put packs of rabid dogs in children's playgrounds?'

The reason why the billions of people across India and Europe and Russia and Indonesia and Australia - just to name a few random places - aren't constantly debating guns is simple: it's because there is in fact no debate.

No debate just means no freedom. Slaves didn't debate their armed slave owners either.

Americans are born wimps. They fear their own shadows, always have, so they immerse themselves in a gun culture to help them feel tough. Sadly it backfired.

Your article makes an odd change of data to confuse the reader.

In per capita terms, the U.S. recorded 13.7 firearm deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in 2023. Meanwhile, the death rate from heat in Europe during the summer of 2022 exceeded 90 per million—which, extrapolated annually, is equally significant.
Why are firearm deaths represented by 100k people and yet heat deaths is by 1mil?

Oh wait......it's because the author knows people have issues with math.

Crazy person thinks vehicles have something to do with guns. 😆

Only the ammosexuals were born wimps. The rest of us go about our lives without fear.

I’m over 60 and I’ve never been robbed, mugged or assaulted. Hell, I haven’t even been in a fist fight since I was a teenager. And of course I don’t have a gun.

In May 1996, the National Firearms Agreement in Australia was literally debated by both the federal and state governments.

It was passed.

In the two decades after it was passed Australia was completely free of fatal mass shootings.

I appreciate you will never be able to escape your tribal thinking about guns - that's fine. But at least you can now know that there is a big wide world beyond America's borders where things like debate and freedom have functional meanings beyond your internet memes.

That's the effect of having a continent sized country with one of the world's most sparsely populated regions of the world.
