To Heal Our Nation

I remember from way back when someone was reading fairytales to me, something about 'live by the sword and die by the sword', and 'beat your swords into plowshares'.

MAGAts tell be it's irrelevant because they don't have swords, they have machine guns set to single-fire but fitted with devices that turn them back into machine guns. And that's legal because it makes them less accurate. Or something. Anyway they beat off their meat swords just to be safe.

The promise of peace with swords and ploughshares is found in the Old Testament, appearing in nearly identical wording in the books of the prophets Isaiah (Isaiah 2:4) and Micah (Micah 4:3).
The saying, 'all who take the sword will perish by the sword,' comes from the Bible also. It is attributed to Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew (26:52).
So, fairy tale is correct, provided you call Jesus a fairy.

Your parents couldn't read? :)
Right then, hen, let's get tae the bottom o' this American palaver aboot daein' it yersel'. There's this notion they've got intae their heids that if ye want somethin' done right, ye've got tae be the wan tae dae it. It's no' jist for puttin' up shelves, mind ye, it's for raisin' bairns an' aw.
Look at homeschoolin'. Ye've got a lassie ower there, she's thinkin' she can be a better teacher than a body who's spent years at university learnin' the trade. So, she gets aw the books, buys a globe, an' says, "I'll be teachin' ma bairn everything masel', so they get the best education."
Meanwhile, anither wumman's wee yin goes tae the public school. They've got aw these teachers who are experts in their subjects. They've got classmates fae aw walks o' life. They're no' jist learnin' their sums and their letters; they're learnin' how tae fall oot, how tae mak' pals, and how tae get on wi' folk who are no' like themsel's.
At the end o' the day, who's comin' oot on top? Is it the folk who think they've got tae dae everythin' by themsel's, or the folk who trust their bairns tae navigate the world instead o' keepin' them safe in their ain hoose? I'd say it's the latter, wumman. There's mair tae life than jist your ain faimily.

Doesn't the USA have some elections coming up this November too? Also, they've already had some elections, like the special elections in Florida for Congressional seats that showed sharply lower margins in supposedly safe Republican seats.

there is no way the left can win
Only a few seats to flip the House of Representatives. In the Senate, maybe it will take longer, but even people like Susan Collins in Maine are looking weaker all the time.
