I’m not talking about what everyone else posts… why would I use that as the measuring stick? This is your second attempt at telling the rest of the world that it must do what makes you feel safe. The other thread lasted a couple days but died out pretty quickly. I am curious why you get to be the one that makes the decisions for everyone else?
Why not simply not partake of porn depicting those between 18 and 21? Me? I’m not much of a drinker. Lots of reasons for that but I’m not telling everyone who’d like to get drunk not to. There’s a range of consequences they face for making the decision to drink, a decision they get to make for themselves. By law people get to make this decision for themselves at age 18. As I said a moment ago, no one is forcing you to watch porn you don’t like.

What you describe as "telling people what to do" I would describe as as advocating for a change in public policy (ie., Laws) to better protect our young people. I have a right to raise this issue and it's appropriate to do it here at Literotical.

Now 18 year old's can vote, enlist in the military, and go to prison. But can't drink or smoke. They can buy a long gun but can't rent a car.

There ALREADY is a minimum age for being in Porn! ..It's 18! I'm arguing it should be 21 or older! I'm not advocating for adding another age restriction - I'm advocating for raising a current one to an age of much greater emotional maturity.

On the “sex for money” issue, you may have read my profile (or not) but my wife was a high school math teacher and had a secret life as a local prostitute. She got arrested (after ~ 5 or so years) and was immediately fired from the teaching position. She knew the potential consequences of her actions, she enjoyed it, and we have lived with the consequences. However, it would be very challenging to prove that she was not a good math teacher during all those years. Lot’s of data points to prove she was good at teaching math to teens.

My wife knows I look at porn and is fine with it, in part because she knows I have NO interest in "barely legal" porn or any other kind of porn that embraces violence, misogyny or non-consent. If she caught me looking at that sort of porn she would be deeply saddened and disappointed.

I’m curious where you look at porn. The sites I visit provide at least a clip from the video. Most will even provide clips if you hover over the pic. How are you possibly surprised by the content of things you’ve been able to preview? I mean if all you’re looking at are links someplace it’s one thing, and it’s probably time to peruse sites that give previews, but if you are looking at better sites there shouldn’t be surprises. Hell most video sites allow you to filter what you are looking for. Filtering makes it REALLY difficult to be surprised by content.

Why am I responding to you? Because your solution to not liking something is to make everyone else not do it too. Can you definitively say that no one between the ages of 18 and 21 is capable of making this decision for themselves? If we follow your command you deprive those adults of their ability to make that decision on their own. Adults have to deal with the consequences of their actions and decisions. Also…. The porn actresses issued not an open letter, but rather a petition on behalf of said Christian organization. Kinda implies a bit more involvement than issuing an open letter on the editorial page. Seems like they decided to align with an anti porn organization with a couple million in the bank. That fact makes it very interesting that there’s no disclaimer any where that they were not compensated for participating. Then we get to the fact that scrolling past the lobbying effort leads to questions about being willing to participate in a law suit. Again, compensation rears its head.
