🎵 Monthly Song Challenge 🎵

My parents taught us to dance at a young age. Corny 50s shit like the Stroll and the Madison.

Being informed that I had no funk or soul by one of my sisters made punk rock a no brainer. Slamming (moshing, the windmill, skanking, the twirl, annd all other kindsa dumb shit.)

But what about the pogo? You can really hear the vibrators make the transition from pub rock to punk rock here.

The Vibrators - Pogo Dance

Ironically I wrote a poem abt this a few night ago on the poetry forum.

Day 6: A song with flowers in the lyrics

Watching this through the lens of someone who served this country (which kind of makes it feel like my homeland in some ways) and the current happenings here- this video evokes a lot of emotion.

This was my grandfather's favorite movie (well, that and anything with John Wayne). We watched it a lot and sang the songs. He was German and his family fled Nazi Germany (after first getting very caught up in it). He was a stoic man and although I never saw him cry, I did see tears in his eyes during this scene. I didn't really understand what was happening. Naively I thought he was feeling deep emotion about the family coming together to support him. Now I know it was watching a man's voice break in a desperate plea to a country he no longer recognizes.

🎵 Bless my homeland forever 💔

PS - none of this is normal. Just in case you need reminding/validation.
It’s still one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard
