New Milestones Thread

Hopefully this is the right place to put this.

I'm pretty new around here. Just got my first couple of stories published and I was quite happy to receive my second comment!
But having looked around here, I've noticed there's people with loads of followers and loads of comments.
Is there a strategy I should employ?
Should I just follow as many people as possible?
Is there something you do to promote your story once it's published?
Or does this all come organically and I need to be more patient?
Could do with a little help please. Thanks in advance

That could be a great thread topic. I've read that participating in the contests helps a lot but I haven't done that myself so I don't have personal experience.

We should probably pull this out to another thread because I think this thread is important to people.

But I think it somewhat takes time. I don't have a huge number of followers, although I just crossed 250, which I am proud of and I guess qualifies as a milestone for this thread.

Entering a contest didn't seem to do much in way of followers for me, but getting a prize in it did. That is probably close to half of my followers. Unfortunately, getting a prize is not something you can plan on; I certainly never expect to win another blue W.

Comments seem to vary massively by category. Out of the twelve categories I have posted in, LW and Romance give far more comments per view. E&V and group sex seem to give very few. Of course, you need to live with the nasty comments along with the nice ones for an LW story. And Romance just doesn't get a huge number of views. Everything has a tradeoff.

But if you really want to get more discussion on this, start a new thread.

We all get beat up enough to need a thread where we can brag sometimes too.

Useful tips such as using more tags in a story and adding a link to my stories in my signature are both obvious when I think about it - but just hadn't done it.

3. Didn't get into a car accident despite the attempts of three different vehicles trying to merge over into me. (Fuckin' Massholes.)
4. Finished a story AND submitted it.
5. Cancelled my rental policy for previous apartment.
6. Updated my address.
7. Did not murder anyone.
8. Remembered to eat AND drink water.
9. Set up physical therapy because I managed to royally fuck up my shoulder while moving.
10. Still alive.

I've also slept approximately 15 hours this past week. Yes, that says week, not day or couple of days. So the next milestone I'm aiming for is to have 4-hours of sleep in a row. So far I haven't slept at all today.
