^^^That is a bullshit post. People that have been adjudicated as 'mentally defective' under the law ARE in the NICS data base. The rule that the poster is referring to was NEVER put in place, merely discussed.

No one that I know of wants the mentally ill to have access to firearms and those that have been so adjudicated by the courts or qualified commissions ARE prohibited. The issue is "How far do you want to stretch the definition of "mentally defective"?" And then the question of "Who gets to decide?" has to be answered.
