The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Busy day. We have new tenants moving in to an apartment we manage next week. So finished up some painting and patching, new door, sweep, new showerhead. Mowed the lawn there.

Painted a new sign for the farm stand that was falling apart.

Picked up our flowers and veggies from the 4H fair.

Then onto a goodbye to old neighbor/hello to new neighbor party on our street. Seem like a nice couple.

Then filled up the wood bins at the farmstand. Sold $100 worth of wood this weekends.

Was supposed to drop off a cord and a half of wood to a customer, but I’ll do that this week.

Oh, I did find an anvil engines - the old Really Big One - for sale in MI. The price is great. I don't have the time to go to rescue it. The landlady offered to take the old truck and go get it. She hates driving a trailer, but it'll fit in the back of the old truck even with its short bed.

The old guy called back last night. I'll put them in touch.
That's wonderful she'll go get it for you!

Caught up for the moment
Busy bunch for a day of rest
I try to work various Pulp Fiction lines into the workday.
Only the Very Special Few "get it" . . . .
I missed the point of the movie... didn't get it. I don't think I finished it - saw it on cable or DVD.

Also - I have siblings that quote tv and movies. Even when I've seen it, I rarely recognize the quote.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 for all those of us or have family with health struggled of any kind 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏.
Thank you 🫂 I'm in the club with some friends and family. Rough seas at times. 🌊
I've worked and inspected commercial farms for insurance companies.
I can smell them when I open the door at Kroger, hence, I buy ALL of my meat from a local processor... Miller's treats me like a fukkin f'g Kang!
There's a local meat shop that some family absolutely love. I went to take a look one day... one sniff and I turned on my heel and never went back.
How can you even consider buying anything in a place that smells like that? 🤢
I have never seen that movie
My hooks are characters and story - this one had neither for me.
I buy 1/2 a cow from a local farmer about 1x a year and it is processed locally!!
About 5.50 to 6 a lb average.....
Just have to have freezer room!!
Growing up my family did this - we had a full size freezer... with a lock. Dad wanted to make sure the door stayed closed. It served as the bulk of the meat for our family for an entire year and was cost-prohibitive to replace it.
There was a wait list for pigs. I still remember how happy he was the year our family and another split a pig. 🥓
Do tell!!! 🤣
Story Time!! 😁
I call them "cholesterol bombs"... ⅓ pound sausage patty, egg, and double cheese on a bun.
They make life worth livin'
Closest I've come is a cheese and pickle sandwich with either mayo or mustard - whichever was available. 🤭
hats that say
"Nobody Beats Our Meat"
Popular to be sure LOL
I just served SOS for brunch, but I'll spare you the picture, as it NEVER photographs well! 🤣
I figured it out on the 2nd try... SOS on our family's menu refers to leftovers (same old sh... you get it) :ROFLMAO:
It’s called shit on a shingle (sos) for a reason…
indeed 🤢 dry shingle for me, thanks
as Nine Inch Nails and Johnny Cash said...
"My empire of dirt"
Big fan of NIN since we were introduced
When I heard Johnny Cash's cover... made me love the song even more. I love both versions but am more likely to reach for Cash's now over Trent's 🥰🥰
This guy landed on me and is hanging around with me... the "Newsbee"
better you than me
If you move your finger in a circle, making it smaller and smaller as you go, you can "hypnotize" them and get them to land on you!
Why the fuckitty fucking fuck would you? Ever???
I think there’s a picture out there somewhere…
No doubt
Treasure Hunt just dropped :ROFLMAO:
A good friend of mine walked out of it (in the theater) halfway through.
I would have joined them... not sure I lasted even that long, but I would have kept them company while they waited for everyone else. I've walked out of theaters before... sometimes into choice 2... but one time I went back and asked for a refund. Can't recall if I got it, but I tried.
This is a 100% true. Apricots are not allowed.

Some people took it to the extreme point of banning all fruit. Luckily I was never on any of those tanks. When you’re in the field or deployed, you need fresh fruit to keep your regular!
Yikes! I mix it up as best I can, but have settled into mostly Fruititarian. I can sacrifice apricots not being raised with them at the table, but all fruit? Nope
Quiet reflection on a random Sunday afternoon...
beautifully written... thank you for sharing with our group
My dad has to go on dialysis. The doc said prognosis is 1 to 3 years

We deal with today and cry in private
🫂 🫂 🫂 Makes that time even more precious
My thoughts go out to you and your family.

First off, how’s your daddy? Sending prayers his way. Man, what is in the water this year for our loved ones? 🤷🏻‍♂️

POINT OF ORDER!

We’ve had a long standing upholding of the rules on this forum but I want to add a change to the Bylaws. For any sickness or those feeling blue, let’s add a prayer clause. It can be to whichever deity or religion of your choice, just so long as it’s in the spirit of healing one of our resident Spooners or extended family of said member.

I’ll put this up for a vote. All in favor? Aye…Opposed? Nay.
I vote AYE for this! 🥰

A lot of people with banana allergies are also allergic to watermelons

There is your trivia for the day

Ohhh

And asthmatics have a tendency towards excema
Thankfully, I haven't developed an allergy to watermelon. It's one of my favorite fruits. 🍉 I was so pissed when I developed my strawberry allergy. I love strawberries. 🍓 Unfortunately, breathing takes precedence. 🙄

Unfortunately, breathing takes precedence. 🙄
💯 agree - I've said so many times to people:
I'm a fan of breathing
I'm sorry about the strawberries. That's rough. 🫂
I still tolerate them, but my limit is 5-6 berries a day. So I can make my way through almost a pound container and freeze the rest to use with my protein powder drinks. 🥤

Aye!

Gloomy morning and sitting around mommas last night got me in a nostalgic mood. I remember when we first moved in her house when I was five. We had one of those furniture style record players with radio and tubes glowing in the back. The speakers were on either side of this monster and well…y’all know of what I speak.

I’d sit if front of that thing and listen for hours. This is one of the first songs I remember. Breaking more rules, this is some AM-Fly:

I remember that! My parents called it the Hi-Fi. It had a turntable that could stack records. None of us kids were allowed to touch it!

Here's a song for us:
