Red Sox finalizing a deal with first baseman Nathaniel Lowe who went unclaimed after Washington DHA’d him. Not having a great year but this guy has had a good OBP throughout his career, can hit with power and drive in some runs. Abraham Toro hasn’t done much in the last 5 weeks and will likely lose playing time to Lowe.

Lowe won a Gold Glove for 1B in 2023 when he was on the World Series winning Texas Rangers. He was only hitting .216 for the Nationals this year but did have 16 HRs and 68 RBIs. Washington let him go as they wanted to go younger. Expect Toro to be DFA’d if Boston can’t get anything for him.

Red Sox lose to the Orioles again and get swept at home in the 2 game series. They had the bases loaded in the 8th, the 9th and the 10th and got zero runs out of it.

New Guy Lowe did hit a two run homer in the 9th to tie the game 3-3.

And, now he has made a contribution to beating the Yankees.
Its more obvious in other sports, but I wonder whether there was a little letdown in playing the Orioles (and that last game against the Marlins) after so many games against tough teams and leading into a big series against the Yankees.

I agree. They seem to have adapted the 100 pitch ceiling to all pitchers but many never hit that number.
