Do you stories break you up?

I learned a new term today: "crymax", meaning the point at which you make the reader cry.

I take great pride in making readers cry, and if something I write doesn't make me cry, I am skeptical that it will make them.

I have plans to revisit one of my foundational stories one day, to wrap up the series with a magnum opus type tear jerker. But I'm not brave enough to do it yet, my leading lady won't let me. Even though she's completely fictional, I'm not ready to write that chapter. Not yet.
