I tried to upload one when new style profiles arrived, but back then it didn’t work, I think it had the upload button but then the picture never uploaded. I haven’t tried since before this avatar thing that I re-uploaded my profile pic. Anyway, I was happy to have my own instead of the typewriter thing. Though that was pretty cool too.

Yep. Took me a couple of attempts to navigate the dark/light settings that worked for me. The photo is of a creek estuary in Darwin, Northern Australia... every time I've walked across the bridge I've wondered how many crocodiles are lurking unseen....*

Don't try to edit your photo to any of the sizes recommended in the instructions. That was the first thing I did, and it rejected the photo. Instead, upload the whole original and use their tool to edit it to their size.

At the moment, I have the dark overlay with light text. However, it is still in moderation. Is that why the icons to "follow" and "contact" are not there yet?

Where is the control to change text color (white or black option?).

I think I might prefer a light overlay with black letters, but I don't know how to change the text color. Also, the "follow" and "contact" buttons are missing. I assume that is because it has not been approved yet? Also, I think I'd rather have the avatar on the left rather than centered.

Anyway, it's based on a photo I took some years ago. "It's just apartment house sense, like apartment house rents: One man's ceiling is another man's floor."

Thanks, this one works. The avatar is on the left now, and the contact icon is back. I'd still like to know how to change the text color. It seems black and white are the only options, but that's fine.

Ah, I forgot about that. Discovered it a while back and despite looking fine, it said the pic I use as a header is too small, and won't save, so I said fuck it. The picture is bigger than the header size, so it's bullshit to me.

I hadn't planned on doing anything with it, but then I realized I had a panorama shot of the area where my Barstow series originated. Just uploaded, and it should be a good fit.

I had the same issue with cookies I tried to use.

It seems to see the cropping tool as "use 50x zoom on this area" rather than "crop the image to show this area."

The cropping tool worked for me as you would expect, and the cropped image isn't noticeably scaled.

@Erozetta, @ElectricBlue, what were the pixel dimensions of the image you uploaded? Is it possible that it scaled a small image up to fit the window and cropped the scaled image?
