As a parent do you make that purchase or not?


I got into it with a so called parent about this on Reddit. Told her flat out if asked by my daughter for xyz I would buy for her. Why? Simply because she will get horny. She will masturbate. That is the facts. So if she is going to enjoy this and yes I know it isn’t a car or whatever why not?

Interesting question. I had to consider it for a minute.

My answer is that I don’t make the purchase. Toys, especially beginner ones, aren’t that expensive. From a part time or summer job, they can shell out the cash and make that adult purchase on their own. This is part of being an adult.

What I do focus on is how to keep your toy clean, and using it appropriately. Encouraging healthy, safe practices in a shame free way would be my priority. You’re right, masturbation and learning about your body happens. Knowing I’m setting her up to do so with care for herself and trust in me that I’m a safe space would be my goal.

Yes I don't see why not. My first few bad dragons were gifts, two of them from my mom and her gf even though they don't use toys. They got it for me just cause I had mentioned it. So yes I would buy it. What I'm unsure how I will react at that time is if I will buy it for no reason or will I save it as a present for some occasion like birthday or moving out

I would include a discussion on letting them aware of the choices and what they might enjoy.

I'm not a parent but yes, I would absolutely help a family member obtain a sex toy. I would also make sure that they have condoms, lubrication, sex toy cleaner, or anything else that they need.

I think the age makes a really big difference. As my daughter would be an adult, the level of maturity makes the answer different. If she were to be speaking quite immaturely with this, then my focus would be more about providing advice around self care, etc. On a more mature level, then it’s likely to be just a financial thing, because we don’t need other people to give us advice about what makes us feel good when we pleasure ourselves. I wouldn’t be against helping her out but she might want to pay me back, as this is what she already does when she needs a bit of cash in a pinch.

Yeas I have seen post by mother's on Reddit That yes they would by toys for their daughters.
I see know problem with it. But once they turn 18, they should buy their own.

I can’t imagine a world where a son or daughter who is old enough to be experiencing sexual desire is not able to handle this on their own. I also can’t imagine my son or daughter wanting to involve me or my wife in this. But that’s just me and my family.
