Seriously, apparently a “mega thrust” earthquake measuring8.8 on the Richter scale around Kamchatka, Russia. That makes this number 6th most powerful earthquakes in history to be exact.

The fact that it’s a “mega thrust” quake means that its propensity to create massive Tsunamis and water displacement is very high. As a result, many Tsunami Warnings are now in affect for Hawaii, Japan and even a lot of the West Coastline of the U.S. Hawaii is expecting up to 12 feet waves alone, and mass evacuations are currently underway.

We are evacuating the beach......LOL. Just kiddimg. We are nowhere near Hawaii.

Joking aside, distance isn't really the deciding factor. What makes the wave dangerous is the amount of displacement. In this case there was a lot of shaking but the displacement wasn't enough to generate a huge pressure wave sufficient to travel across the Pacific ocean and retain its mass.
