To the surprise of very few my greatest and most enduring celebrity crush is Shirley Manson who only gets radder as she gets older. She’s such a fucking icon.

PM CHALLENGE - DAY TWENTY FOUR

PM at least one Litster who you only speak to on another platform.

1. Sometimes when we move from Lit to another platform (Discord, Teams, Morse Code), we stop receiving the PMs that previously made us so excited to receive. Remember your roots and PM someone you make talk to all the time but never PM anymore.
2. Once you've sent your nostalgic PM, come tell us something that makes you feel nostalgic (it can be a flavor, a song, an actor, anything!) for EIGHT prize tickets!

I don't have anyone that meets the criteria so I'll have to sit this one out.

I still want to share the nostalgia bit, though. I started to watch Boy Meets World a while back and that's a nostalgia thing for me. I didn't understand a lot of the cultural and wordplay aspects of it as a kid, but I still liked it a lot. Topanga was the epitome of cool to me. :)

This morning I watched an episode where Topanga describes the world during and after her presidency. Made me laugh.

Done!

I can't really think of any one thing that makes me feel nostalgic. But a combination of things like Selena music, the smell of Fabuloso, light flooding through the windows, and a red bandana reminds me of a Saturday morning with my mom and her telling me we're cleaning the entire house!

PM sent!
As far as nostalgia... there's a kind of sickly-sweet smell that you get in orchards sometimes from the fruit that's fallen to the ground and is starting to rot. Everytime I smell that particular sweetness it takes me back to my childhood home where we had an apple tree, cherry tree, plum tree, raspberry and blackberry bushes... I miss the ever-loving fuck out of being able to just walk outside in the summer and eat my fill of whatever was ripe. And there was always that slightly off sweet smell from the fallen fruit. Especially on the hotter days of late summer.

Day 24 in the bag...

Nostalgia wise, Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi (even (or maybe especially) the cringe inducing Social Disease) always transports me back to my teenage years and allows me to wallow in memories for a while...

I have sorta an adversarial relationship with nostalgia. As a Gen-X baby, I feel like it’s been so over commercialized and weaponized that I’m largely over most of the things from my youth. I also have a really sharp memory and recall so much about my youth fondly, which just increases my resentment at the things I love being driven into marketing dirt. I never need another Goonies or Ghostbusters or Back to The Future. I disliked Stranger Things and Ready Player one.

That being said, I love love love the ads in old comics . I rarely actually read any of my old comics, they largely don’t hold up well. But man do I love flipping through and seeing the ads 🤣. See also old Dragon Magazines. Brings me right back to middle school game club.

You're so hipster 😋

PM sent.
And check me out completing the challenge while there's still daylight!

Hmm Nostalgia
The opening music to Murder She Wrote always takes me back to a little family holiday to the seaside when my Mam was pregnant with my sister. My dad and I had a day out on a tourist fishing boat trip. We'd walked miles and the sea air had made me so sleepy but I was determined to stay awake. And so obviously fell asleep almost immediately just after the program started.

PM CHALLENGE - DAY TWENTY FIVE

PM at least one Litster and ask them on a date you've planned!

1. Plan the date! Where are you going to take them? What will you eat? Will it finish with a chaste kiss or will you invite them back to your place? <eyebrow waggle>
2. The fun is in the details on this one! Pictures or links would be a great accompaniment. If you plan this PM right, it will feel like the two of you went somewhere.

3. Once you've sent you PM invite, come and tell us about the worst date you ever went on and collect 15 prize tickets!
