The Official Authors' Hangout Summer Lovin' 2025 Contest Support Thread

Oh, geez... Where did July go? Where did the year go?

I'd better pull my finger out and get this one finished.

You've made me feel miles better. Getting paranoid for the longish stuff I churn out  Hopefully, this one will roll out at around 25k
I feel like us long-form stories gotta stick together. I powered through to 53k Oh boy. I LOVE this story and these characters and the steamy-hot southern-fried smut. Why not. We've got a summer horse auction, hot lake skinny-dipping, some swamp magic ...smug, legacy...maybe a county fair if I'm lucky ;)

I'm feeling a little nervous that my entry is only 9K words, but I don't see any need to expand it just to make it longer. Some of my regular readers will be surprised to see something so short.

No need to be nervous at all. My Nude Day entry didn’t break 6k and did well both in terms of score and great feedback.

This one will be definitely much longer, though. I’m at 8k and it’s probably not even a half of it. It’s also my first time in First Time, so I’ll be losing a virginity along with the main character ;)

I won't have a story in this contest, but I'd like everything to go well for those of you who will. So, here's a heads-up for when the contest gets going: If the contest isn't linked on the Categories page, ask the site folks to put a link there. Even now, today, that page has a link to the April Fool's Day contest. The Nude Day contest was never linked there.

I realize that many people enter Literotica through the site's Home page, and the Nude Day contest was mentioned there, I think from the get-go. When I enter LitE, my bookmark goes to My-Home, and use the Explore dropdown to get to Categories--but unless I decide to enter LitE without using my account, I never see the site's Home page. In the interest of getting as much notice for contest stories as possible, you might ask that there be a link on Categories as well as the site Home page.

I just finished one I started and abandoned last year. Glad I got that out of the way!

I haven't written much since my one and only story here (for National Nude Day), but yesterday I had an idea for a story that would fit this theme. Being spanked in a park by a stranger for not wearing anything under my sundress...

Hoo boy, did I underestimate that! We’re up to 17k now, and the main event is only just starting. But that’s okay, my character has already waited a long time, so what’s a few thousand words more?

I thought 20K, then 23K...25...28. Just passed 35k,home straight, end a few hunded words away. Then the editing. I didn’t mean too, honest!

:nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: To the Long boi's club ;) Mine is done (enough) At...ahem... 57k words. LOL. It should be two stories, but since I can't do 'series' ... two become one. I've gotta practice making shorter nibbles.

Mine’s done apart from minor edits - a 10K incest piece. Incest isn’t my usual comfort zone: it’s been a good challenge to write something that works for me and that hopefully readers enjoy. I’m not eligible to win a prize for the next couple of contests, so that brings a nice level of freedom to explore.

So glad I happened to see this thread. I just spent a week on Fire Island and was inspired to write a story.

Mine's barely 5k words though! Seeing everyone's word counts makes me worried I don't add enough.

Stahhhp.

Every story is different, and it's going to be told in different ways. If your story is complete at 5k words, then it's complete. Let it be. If something's missing? Add it. Don't add stuff just to pad numbers.

I’m submitting a story that is about 1600 words, but a significant part of that is the intro and ending. So it’s probably really about 1500 words?
Every story is different.

Mine is 54K words, so you've topped me. It's kind of nice to know that mine isn't the longest entry.

25k and I only need the final scene now. Phew!

It's been a bit of a rough ride, and for the most hilarious of reasons. See, the story is set in an unnamed town in Southern California and it prominently features a drought. One of its consequences is actually the impetus for the entire plot to happen, and I've been using it as metaphor throughout the story to signify, well, something else. Indeed, I even left a few spots here and there with editing notes such as [ lean into the dry heat more! ] which I'm going to resolve later.

But why is this hilarious? Because for the past week or so, it's been raining every freaking day where I'm at, often in downpours, and usually at least a drizzle all throughout the day. It's not exactly easy to immerse yourself in a setting full of withered trees and rolling tumbleweed when you've got rain constantly banging and rapping on your windows...
