The Official Authors' Hangout Summer Lovin' 2025 Contest Support Thread

I've actually started writing one for this even. It's been a minute, but I'm enjoying it, so 🤷‍♀️. (Posting here/now to hopefully hold myself somewhat accountable to actually post the story. 😅)
We are watching you write right now. *(heavy breathing)* :D Have fun~

LOL!! Yasssss! :nana: <-- This Icon is my all time favorite! I wish I could use it ALL the time. Horny banana ~
Do it! Do what makes you feel like you. After all, what can't be solved with a horny banana icon, really? (You do NOT need to answer that. 😂 😅)

AM curious how everyone is doing on their story (ies) I am about 10,000 words in and 2/3rd of the way completed
Not at all started yet - thinking of ideas. I may deviate from my usual themes and do a romance / first time, although maybe not ...

For some reason, "Sally's ice cream cart" keeps rattling in my head about a college girl who operates an ice cream cart on the golf course (with the "foreshadowing" of the 'cream' part ...

"Just remember, it has to be summer related - not necessarily beach related."

How summer does summer have to be?
Last year, my entry was set largely in a summer school. The bulk of the action was literally in a classroom, and although there were some short beach and pool sequences (plus the immortal trope of a broken A/C), these could be replaced with any other thematically-appropriate scenes and, after slight adjustment to the premise, the whole thing would still work fine.

Not that I consciously planned it to be such plug-and-play story, of course; just saying you can pin the summer part anywhere you want.

I believe that longer stories which have plot involving more than just sex tend to do well.
For me, 12K is a sweet spot in terms of getting it written and edited. Then I add to it later if appropraiate

When I see entries above 12K a part of me sighs internally as it seems like so much to read (but then I have 3 young kids so time is limited!)

So, turns out I have two stories. Same characters. Same summer. Two different events. They build on each other though. Does that make them a 'series'? I feel weird putting up a story +25k words.

I am now 6000 words into what was going to be a 12,000 word story and the opening sex ceremony is only just done. It's mostly tangential to the story too. Looks like I have a problem here...it's fairly racy though. This is not going to be a "first kiss" kind of summer ...

Yes, it could be argued that the two stories are a series. Combining them avoids this problem.
Longer stories tend to have fewer views but there seems to be a slight trend for them to have higher scores, all other things being equal.

Edit: this refers to GoldenMaia’s post above. Seems I can’t attach a quote in an edit.

Has anybody submitted theirs yet?

I may make another read through first, maybe two.
Not yet.

Hero event OGGBASHAN MEMORIAL EVENT 2025 “Hacksaw Ridge” Essay will be published tomorrow, I think.

Hammered: an Ode to Mickey Spillane 2025 “Robbing the Hood” Lesbian will be submitted Tuesday.

Born to Run Story Event 2025 “A prisoner of my Dreams” BDSM is about half done. Based on the song lyric from Night - “And you're just a prisoner of your dreams”. I’ve also got a First Time story planned based on Born to run - “ I want to know if love is wild, girl I want to know if love is real”. I probably won’t do this one though, so that I can start working on Summer Lovin’.

Summer Lovin’ plans:
Over the fence: maybe Illustrated because I’ve got a public domain non-nude that I could use, but I will probably end up making it Interracial instead.
Transparent bikini: Exhibitionism, obviously
Milkshakes bring the boys to the yard: First Time
Camping table massage: this was a real event, but not particularly sexual, so I’ve got to figure out how to twist it. Group would be easy, I could get Anal to work if I tried.

Of course once I get started on a story they do often morph into something else.

To use a motorcycle racing phrase for this one : Head down, bum up! Well underway but a complex one to tie together
