Younger brother had a huge, brown afro, too. When he started playing football he had to get a tight cut... because he couldn't get his helmet on with all that hair. He never went back... it was tight cut all the way from then on.

It's possible. There are dyes that don't cause as much damage.

My mother used to punish me by trying to make me eat foods I will not eat. Sometimes lunch was just a plain bologna sandwich on nasty white bread. No mustard, lettuce, cheese, or any other condiment. I used to trade my sandwich for something else at school.
