(Submitted - all my planned questions will go over like a lead balloon atm so if you have a suggestion, let me know!)

What's been one of your biggest acts of willpower?
If it is something that matters to me and I decide I want to do it, I can be unwavering. Some of those include when I decided to workout every day (for years), cut a toxic family member out of my life, lose a lot of weight, change careers, and rearrange my life to parent two teenagers in adverse conditions. Those are all separate things 😂

Are strong willed? Stubborn?
I am about the things that I’m passionate about, but I don’t feel a need to change other people’s opinions. I’m happy to have a conversation with another respectful adult who genuinely wants to get a different perspective though - and vice versa. If it’s something that I am not willing to deal with, I just stop engaging. I enjoy banter, but not arguing.

I don’t have any tolerance for hateful or discriminatory behavior though. I’m usually very even keeled, but that’s one of the few things that will make me snap at someone. There are times when I think I could handle things more diplomatically in those instances, but I have a hard time holding any patience or kindness for that behavior. I’ve called out relatives or acquaintances on their words and it’s usually very direct and sharp real time and then will mellow to a conversation. I’ve also told relatives their behavior isn’t welcome in my house and they have a choice to make. No regrets there even if I escalated an uncomfortable situation.

Or are you more flexible? Open to others wills?
I’m usually very flexible. My sense of right and wrong and values don’t change drastically, but I’m always learning and evolving. I appreciate people who are thoughtfully direct and help me grow.

At work I’m logical and practical, but very opened minded. I changed my mind this morning on a project I was largely convinced wouldn’t be a good fit, but someone presented a strong case. So we’re likely to proceed and experiment with it.

In my personal life, I’m flexible on many things and stubborn about a few. I’ve learned to protect my time and mental space and have zero FOMO. So trying to convince me to do something when I’ve decided I don’t want to is really a pointless endeavor. Most of the time though? I’m up for anything and very laid back. I’ve traveled places where I don’t make plans until the flight or after arriving. Or other times happily agreed to plans that have no details just to change numerous times along the way. I’m comfortable with change in general and can roll with it. I’m also good at verbalizing if one small thing matters to me and the rest I can be flexible about.

I’m with @morelikeasong though, spite is not a driver for me at all. I certainly enjoy it if someone underestimated me and are proven wrong, but those types of negative setups are things I have to work to mentally ignore, not fuel.

Hmm ... not putting words in Eva's mouth ....

But followup question - can spite fuel your willpower?
It can, but I can't think of any circumstance in my life where it did.

I'm not a spiteful person. If I am doing something and someone says "You can't do it", I usually just ask "why not" and see what their reason is. Depending on the validity of their reasoning, I either just ignore them politely and keep going, or I take it into account, adjust, and keep going.

I see spite as a negative emotional condition, and I tend to find them of very little value. It gives too much power to the person you are directing your spite towards.

That's easy

Not picking up that first drink in almost 7 years.
Alcohol makes my will weak, it turns me into a stubborn inflexible asshole that becomes very close minded, opinionated and "always right" even when you show me I am wrong.

I have a pretty severe allergy to alcohol, it tends to make me break out in handcuffs, and not in the fun way.

@PrettyLilPussy19 I love the questions you pose. I don’t always get a chance to answer but they do always make me think!

This one in particular because I often joke that I lack willpower. But upon reflection I think I just don’t believe in denying myself, so it’s pretty easy to convince me to have the extra glass of wine with dinner or watch a movie instead of folding laundry, etc.

But I worked my butt off to be at the top in school and worked 70-90 hour weeks for years when starting out in my career, and not for the love of the work but because it’s what I thought I needed to be successful. I thought about quitting every day but didn’t, so I guess that’s willpower.

In most things I think I’m flexible, though the word I would use is pragmatic. If it makes sense to change, I will. I used to have a harder time switching up things but I’ve mellowed substantially as I’ve gotten older. I definitely try to focus on the important things and let the rest go!

OK, single sole act? At 25, with my first girlfriend (late bloomer, y'know). We were away, neither of us had condoms (stupid), and neither of us had recently been STI tested (I'd never been at that point, 'cause still a virgin), and... there she was, someone I was crazy about, saying it was fine because she had a coil, had given blood somewhat recently, lying naked and wet, right there, saying please could I just fuck her.
But she'd recently broken up with someone.
And I knew the right and safe thing was to say no. And I said... no. And I explained why. And god damn it, she actually listened and respected my decision.

I did lose my virginity to her a week later, when we had protection available.

Longer-term? Continued studies for what I do for a living, and learning German (I have zero aptitude for languages but I am trying).

Now as for the last parts of the question - I've been told I'm super super easy going until I'm very suddenly not, and then it's like trying to move a mountain with a fish fork.
I'm broadly flexible, I can work just fine with other people and I'm generally easy to get on with. But, I have certain specific lines, and I will not cross them unless your argument is phenomenally persuasive.
It's funny because I've been called too easy-going and too stubborn. I guess it just depends on the topic around which we're engaging!

Fruit Pastilles lolly, Twister, and Solero for me.

I was more into fruit flavours than chocolate and actual ice cream, for the most part. Solero excepted 'cause the fruit flavour was (to young Alpine) really refreshing.

Not that you have those on your menu.
Because you've strayed far from God's light, and as a people will surely not see paradise.

Honestly, I would eat any of those, but Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Eclair, Chipwich, Ice Cream Sandwich or Creamsicle would be my first choice. 😋

No Solero but there is a Calippo!
You had Solero money? I was bottom row with a lemon ice lolly or a strawberry split 😆

Something nice and yummy before the holiday!
What was/is your go to ice cream truck order?

Yes I will judge you if you choose wrong!
Do your Screwballs have the tiny piece of rock hard bubblegum too?

Creamsicle just sounds pervy. I approve!
Dunno might try a push (or posh? Can't see) up pop or a chocolate taco just based on picture alone

One of the great pleasures of being an adult is the ability to go into the grocery store and buy boxes of Strawberry Shortcake bars anytime I want. I have some in my freezer right now.

As a kid, Drum Stick! Man those rubbery peanuts and the glob of chocolate at the bottom of the cone. So good.

As an adult who can’t do dairy, I’ll take the sno cone (😝) the little puddle of sugar syrup water at the bottom after it pools there making you crunch through a few inches of plain ice to reach. It teaches you a lesson I tell ya.

Hmmmm I didn’t really think that I have a think for the bottom of the cone until just the minute. What can I say, I’m a fan of happy endings?

Not pictured but definitely a fave IMG_7460.jpeg

Oh my god I remember the screwball bubblegum!

And yes, I had that flashy Solero money. Like a Rolex for children.

The watch. Not the food.
Now I want the food.

Push-up and creamsicle

Now? The Fat Boy ice cream sandwich’s. They are marvelous. Highly recommend.

Btw, running errands, it’s 88, sunny and I’ve got the top down and listening to Earth Wind and Fire. It could be a better day, but this is all right.
