People who know about hankys are expecting to see hankys. I'm very doubtful that they would see something that's not a hanky, tied somewhere that's not a back pocket, and displayed in an environment that's not expected to be a gay cruising ground, and think to theirselves "hey, I wonder if that's something this person made up to stand in for a bandana. That old hanky code is long gone. No one knows it anymore. Cruising in person is challenging these days, but it is also a rush that can be somewhat addicting. The subtleties are learned through experience, and a good portion of the guys are skittish, and reluctant to follow through. I’ve had some guys back out right at crunch time, their eyes darting around, and anxiety too high to succumb to the moment. Almost any guy within sight is there to give or get. I totally agree with you. It's really too bad but if you can't host finding a married guy to serve is very difficult it seems.
