I confess, I've long wondered why that particular talent needs to be specifically referred to as throat singing. Doesn't every singer use their throat to do so (if often, admittedly, less vigorously)? Seems redundant, like tongue speech or eye vision.(moved here from 'Comments That Made Your Day')
A milestone achieved during the Nude Day contest in my story Letting The Sunshine In, pointed out by a reader - first use of Mongolian throat singing in a Literotica story. Warm feels in the yurt.

Another excellent story from Actingup. Is the first time Mongolian throat singing has been in a literotica story? Having heard Mongolian throat singing I agree it is amazing, What I appreciate about your stories is that they are original, with varied and different settings, all of which are well researched and appear to be accurate.
my response:
@mildcolonialboy, I've just checked. Mongolian throat singing has been mentioned three times in the 706448 stories that have been published on Literotica to date, but as far as I can tell, this is the first time it has actually occurred during the story. I feel proud - it's very hard to get a 'first time' here. Thank you for drawing this to my attention.
Why, yes. I'm not an expert on this (the Mongolian throat singers are a running joke in the story - a choir goes to an international choir competition - one of the main characters keeps joking about being seduced by a Mongolian throat singer, and then eventually they get to hear a throat singing choir in action). However, normally when people talk about Mongolian throat singers, they actually mean overtone singing, which is (Wikipedia) 'a set of singing techniques in which the vocalist manipulates the resonances of the vocal tract to arouse the perception of additional separate notes beyond the fundamental frequency that is being produced.' It's done by shaping the mouth and pharyx to amplify particular natural harmonic resonances in the sound.I confess, I've long wondered why that particular talent needs to be specifically referred to as throat singing. It lasted until the 12th vote.Long may it last!
It's better than my 200k on 23 soIs 450,000 views across 28 stories noteworthy?
I am not much over 200K on 33 stories. It depends so much on the category. The last story in my SF&F series has yet to reach 1K, despite a reasonable rating (4.75) and comments. It's better than my 200k on 23 so![]()
You are right to mention Category.I am not much over 200K on 33 stories. It depends so much on the category. The last story in my SF&F series has yet to reach 1K, despite a reasonable rating (4.75) and comments.
I started to try and find out once. Smashwords gives the total words of each book. But after I got through the first 50 books out of what was around 200 at the time I just gave up.I have no idea how many words I've written.

Whoever edited The Stand did a great job because all the extra material was hot garbage. But that was back when King allowed editors. Since the mid 90's it was obvious no one was touching his precious work. I gave up reading him after Insomnia, tried to read Black House that he wrote with Straub because it was a sequel to a prior collab, and King had the first part, and I put it down. Something that I noticed, and maybe its getting older, the rules and discussions on this site, but I didn't realize back in my younger days how obsessed with underage sex he was-might still be but again I haven't read anything in a long time. With my latest story, my 46th, my published word total (476118) is greater than Stephen Kings unabridged The Stand. (471485). Now to start working towards War and Peace (587287).
I see views/votes/comments/score/favorites and reading lists. I don't see word count. It's average of a little over 16,000 per story. For comparison, my average is 15,782 over 75 stories.
You can find the exact number on the stats sheet that you can download from your My Stories page.
