What I don't get is how executives can just disregard what their legislative bodies enact. In the US, tik tok is banned and the executive just says, "no it's not" and so it's not.

Is Canada the same on this tax? Does the parliament have a say here?

Ok, your first report references the “Southwest border”, it never says if this is Canada’s southwest border, or Americas.

The Fox News article is a news article and it mentions that immigrants MIGHT try to come through Canada, which they did not previously do during Biden’s term.

Appears Canada has decided to up it's contribution to NATO all of a sudden, set up a legit border, drug enforcement agency. All things that had been discussed with Trump that was stupid but now they are doing it and I am sure going to claim it was their idea.

I guess as long as it gets done that's all that matters.

Anybody paying attention here in Canada knows that successive governments have neglected military spending to a ridiculous degree. And I don't think anybody ever bought into the promises to meet NATO targets (or an other target) years down the line. Mr. Trump distorts many things to suit his purpose but he is not wrong about this one.

The frustrating thing is that it has fed into a narrative that misrepresents Canada's proud military history. Our contributions have been embarrassingly and irresponsibly inadequate for some time now. But if we look at the arc of the last 100+ years Canada made major contributions to every significant conflict fighting alongside Americans with two exceptions - Iraq and Vietnam, the American wars now widely regarded as pointless (not to take anything away from those who served).
