Day 14- A song with no chorus that's not Bohemian Rhapsody

"How to make Gravy" - Paul Kelly

A large percentage of the Australian population knows this song which is about being apart at Christmas. Paul is a great storyteller - in this song the narrative is about a guy stuck in gaol at Christmas, writing a letter home. This video puts the original song into a COVID-era context.

It's quite something being in a concert crowd belting out every word of this classic.

Day 15: A song about dads or fatherhood

Another day, another one of my favorite folks getting to my first choice before me (@Whiskeyjack). I gotta hop on here earlier 🤣 I didn't actually know this song until today but it's quite sweet to record a lullaby for your kid so an easy second choice.

Day 15: A song about Dads or Fatherhood

Nice take off on the Bad Brains.

My daughter took me out for breakfast and we went past the Polish American hall where I promoted a show with Agnostic Front, Last Rites and The Russian Meatsquats in OCT 1985.

Day 15: A song about dads or fatherhood

“Father’s Day” by Weddings Parties Anything. This was a huge hit in Australia- worth a listen. A divorced dad talks about trying to keep a connection with his kids and the relationship with his ex: it's nuanced and moving in a very difficult space.

What of the darling wife that once I had?
Well I'm pleased to say that she still talks to me
But I try not to think of what went wrong
'Cause if I say that I was right
She might say that she was right
And the only rights I care about are visiting rights
