Morning all (or afternoon/evening, given that this is a global forum). There doesn’t appear to be an ‘introduce yourself’ thread so I’ll go for it here. I’m British, a few years from retirement, married with kids, and we’re a few months into the swinging lifestyle - creative and other juices are starting to flow more freely. I write for a living but my output is formal assessment reports for the maritime security industry; I really relish the challenge of writing creatively and our new lifestyle is providing the material. Everything is going to be at least semi-autobiographical. My first effort is still pending (for about a week) and I’m looking forward to chatting about just how you lot put an engaging and arousing story together. Enjoy your weekends, and speak soon. Greetings. You'll find there's a select group of us Brits on the boards, and we've been known to have some gentle fun at the expense of the majority US posters here (who are mostly pretty fine folks, I hasten to add). They have their fun with us, too, and rightly so.

Good luck with your first effort, and don't be shy about any questions you might have - there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers (which isn't entirely true - I was once asked by a friend, as we set out on a week long camping trip, whether he needed to bring a sleeping bag).

Welcome.

If you haven't done so already, I recommend that you take the time to peruse stories similar to what you intent to write to gauge what readers' reactions have been, and which categories here might best suit your objectives as a writer (most views, highest score, greatest feedback, etc.).

I believe that you will find several stories related to swinging in both the Erotic Couplings category as well as in the Loving Wives category. There are authors here who will be able to share the pros and cons of each category.

Welcome. I hope this new world is as satisfying for you as it has been for me.

I beg your pardon!

It would be nice if, in some upgrade, Lit gave us all alerts when a new member joined. Welcome!

And, it seems to me, a disproportionate number of Aussies.

No thanks. There are probably hundreds of new accounts opened every week, why on earth would I want to know who they are?

Hello! I wrote the following to another new person a few days ago, and will just paste it here😁

Once you've got a story or two published, make sure to share them in the What Have You Posted Recently thread and the New Story Advertisements threads!

And I also recommend putting a link to your author profile in your signature line, because the forum side of Lit and the publishing side of Lit don't link up automatically in a very convenient way.

There are some strong opinions (and some old beefs 🤣) on the Authors' Hangout forum, but also a lot of great support and advice and encouragement 🥰

That doesn't look familiar. Have you changed it recently? Maybe not. I'm non-visual and have no idea what you might have had before.
Edit 1 minute later:
Well, I woke up and went to How Did You Choose Your Avatar and Username, and there you were! Hasn't changed!!
Not in the last 18 months, no. It's not actually my local bus stop, but I liked the KQ on the distinctive London Transport roundel.

What was it over 18 months ago? That may be when I anchored it in my brain. But, as I said, I'm not visual, so I wouldn't remember it. But it may explain why it seemed different.

Welcome to the Authors Hangout, John. Happy writing :) - and before anyone else says it, DON'T post a story in the Loving Wives category without checking in here and asking ahout the pros and cons. LOL.

Enjoy the reactions to your first story - and may there be any more.
