As someone who got told to kms today after asking someone to stop saying something offensive, in the political board, I admit the political board is terrible.

It's a toxic snake pit. I don't know what horrifies me more: those who call me names because of my political views, or those who agree with me and call others names.
It's really disgusting.
Why can't people exchange their opinions objectively and accept that others are allowed to have a different opinion? I admit, I've also insulted a few people here after having to put up with their constant outbursts. I should stop doing that, I know that.
The bad thing about the internet is that there is no filter. Any fool who has access has the same rights as a professional.
Of course, you recognise the fools very quickly. Unfortunately, so do the other morons, who then form a horde and shout down the experts. Hoi polloi in their purest form.

I guess the concept is that this site was started for written stories, started a bulletin board, and then over the years, that board became a full porn site with pictures and GIF's and links. All of which require constant moderation to ensure both copyright aspects, and take down any underage material, and this is tremendous work for the volunteer moderators.

Personally, what I find interesting here are the experiences and thoughts of others, not the linked or posted porn, which I can find on my own.

I agree the politics board is a cesspool, which lowers your IQ every time you enter it. But any board has to have one, so the moderators can run people and topics into that room, and slam the door behind them.

I came for the porn. I stayed for the free-er speech. I've spoken before about how the GB used to be a much livelier place before politics were banned. Now images are gone too, or at least, not as convenient to view as they used to be. I think the vast majority just want to wank in peace and the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I've seen a couple of other forums which were on sites that had absolutely nothing to do with politics become a battle royal due to a bunch of analyst wannabes. I left them after it spilled into other forums on those sites.

I stay out of the politic threads and in fact ignore the posters of such. Yes I may miss other threads they start but this way I don't have them popping up in the updates to tempt me to break a beer bottle and jump in.

The No Nude policy disappointed me because I had just posted my first pieces of erotic illustrations. Too late for me now.

I do not agree.
Politics can be a very enjoyable subject if it is used for the good of society and to protect the rights of the individual. But that is precisely the problem.
At the moment, the narrative is being turned on its head. The slavering masses are loudly demanding "their rights", which consist of oppressing others. Human dignity is inviolable.
Everyone should therefore commit itself to inviolable and inalienable human rights as the basis of every human community, peace and justice.
But well. We don't want to set up a branch of the politics board here.

I think the reasons are layered. First they say they're banning pics because member requests for a pic-free site are overwhelming... I've seen a few comments supporting it, but by & large everyone is pissed

No one feels they're telling the truth as to why there's a pic ban. They allow a huge banner ad for cam girls, on every story, where you have no choice but to see it. But, will delete cleavage pics in the forum, where you have to seek out pic eads. Some defending this decision by saying they hate opening their phone browser to a butthole pic. Maybe don't open a porn site at work?

Then, a user was targeted for starting a server for people to post & share pics, similar threads to PG, etc. They deleted tons of her comments, and many others than referred to the server, and restricted her posting privileges, just for creating a space that filled the needs that Lit no longer offered.

The whole thing is Draconian. Don't want to see pics? Don't go to pic threads. Only want writing help/advice? Stick to the authors form. But most of all, don't tell half truths about the why of new policies, don't retaliate against well meaning members who were trying to take some pressure off the forum, and don't have double standards on who can post pics.
