Also, while my older sister got me into D&D the guy I usually played with was a Jehovah’s Witness who’s mom fell prey to the Panic. So we moved to Gamma World. Until she learned what mutations were (apparently demonic) so we ended up in Star Frontiers. And that, more than Star Trek is why I love that type of sci fi the most.

Also, while my older sister got me into D&D the guy I usually played with was a Jehovah’s Witness who’s mom fell prey to the Panic. So we moved to Gamma World. Until she learned what mutations were (apparently demonic) so we ended up in Star Frontiers. And that, more than Star Trek is why I love that type of sci fi the most.

My friend group was really into Magic: The Gathering back in high school. One of our friends was pulled out of school for a week after his mom saw the demonic imagery on some of the black cards. When he came back he gave away all his cards and whenever he'd borrow a deck to play in school or at someone else's house he wouldn't play black. I don't know what they did to him during that week, but it couldn't have been fun.

I think Mortal Kombat II got confiscated for a while... but I also remember persuading my way to getting Streets of Rage 3 (and MK back in turn).

Once I hit a certain age I could work around most any restrictions which... did get me into mucho trouble but.... I wasn't ever sacrificed to Beelzebub - unfortunately. I'd look pretty in the white dress I think.

My favourite memory of my mostly absent work oriented mother, is her telling me when I felt sick to always go to the toilet to vomit.

Doing as I was told, I ran inside from being outside, to vomit, and not quite making it to the toilet and spewed mint choc-chip ice cream all over the beige carpet.

I’ll never forget that permed-hair pursed-lips and angered eyes when she asked me why I ran inside, and I told her because she told me to always vomit in the toilet.

I loved that mad bitch so much, bless her soul, but I’m a way better mum than she was. In every way.

I was allowed to play with action figures. Mostly Star Wars. But I do remember her friends being upset with her after she let me have G.I. Joe toys.

And ironically I’m an adult collector of G.I. Joe but I’m a bit weirded out by my fellow hobbyists who want the most realistic guns and accessories for their dolls. I like my violence cartoonish and over the top tyvm.
