The federal government is spending about $28,000 per person deported, so offering just $1,000 to people who self-deport is very low-ball.

Offering $15,000 to $20,000 per person might generate some actual interest and would still save a load of money.

This is a good quote because I've heard a lot of Republicans who claim to be "Fighting for the Constitution" while at the same time, avidly supporting the current acting president's efforts to subvert and/or overturn it outright.

And most of them are not sophisticated enough to realize the irony of this.

Some Republicans will claim loyalty to the Constitution but would utterly ignore the Bill of Rights- claiming it does not apply (or should not apply to anyone who is not white, male, or Christian.)

There are plenty of Republicans, even self-described, true old-school conservatives, who still believe in the Constitution as the framers intended (yes including the Bill of Rights) and who are alarmed at what is going on in the country right now, but are too timid to speak out. I am praying that more of them do, as this continues, because our country needs them to.

Wrong. People who are charged with criminal assault are tried in criminal courts. If convicted, they are sentenced by a judge in accordance with penalties established by law.

It’s not complicated. Try to follow along. In the US and other civilized countries, a person cannot be found guilty of a crime unless they are charged, offered a trial by a jury of their peers, and convicted.
 
rotflmao. "They did everything right" EXCEPT there is zero record of them doing anything right. They came here illegally and they were here illegally for decades. Paying taxes is not like paying rent. It does NOT give you thr right to stay, and it spits in the face of legal immigrants and genuine refugees.

Facts ARE important
A) they came to the US in 1989 without authorization
B) they had no visas
C) in 2000 an immigration court found no legal reason for the Gonzalezes to stay in the US
D) in 2000 they were issued a voluntary deportation order
E) 2018 they were again told to deport by a deportation officer

The irony of all ths is that if Biden and the Democrats hadn't opened the floodgates to illegals and made the problem with criminal aliens impossible to ignore, they'd probably have been able to remain. A case of hoist by your own petard.
