This is a good quote because I've heard a lot of Republicans who claim to be "Fighting for the Constitution" while at the same time, avidly supporting the current acting president's efforts to subvert and/or overturn it outright.
And most of them are not sophisticated enough to realize the irony of this.
Some Republicans will claim loyalty to the Constitution but would utterly ignore the Bill of Rights- claiming it does not apply (or should not apply to anyone who is not white, male, or Christian.)
There are plenty of Republicans, even self-described, true old-school conservatives, who still believe in the Constitution as the framers intended (yes including the Bill of Rights) and who are alarmed at what is going on in the country right now, but are too timid to speak out. I am praying that more of them do, as this continues, because our country needs them to.

Wrong. People who are charged with criminal assault are tried in criminal courts. If convicted, they are sentenced by a judge in accordance with penalties established by law.

It’s not complicated. Try to follow along. In the US and other civilized countries, a person cannot be found guilty of a crime unless they are charged, offered a trial by a jury of their peers, and convicted.
