News Updates?

Admittedly I only follow 16 authors, most of whom have not been active for years. Today I went to "My Home" and then clicked on "My Authors Activity" and noticed a tab "News Updates". But there was nothing there, so what are "News Updates"?

Searched the phrase and didn't find any mention. Is it a new feature?

That's a feature that hasn't yet been implemented from the author side, I believe.

If I'm remembering correctly, it will allow authors to post notes that will go out to all followers. Progress reports, upcoming stories, announcements of absence, and things of that nature.

This could come in handy for eliminating the "whatever happened to" threads if an author decides for whatever reason they're done here and takes a moment to say goodbye.

Just bumping this thread up, as I’ve been wondering about this feature. Would be a great way to interact with those who follow you & updates from authors I read. It’s been a few years since the last post that said the feature was being worked on. Wonder if that’s still the case?

Not sure I get what you are saying? I know the feature is there and what it should do, but it doesn't seem to be working or available to use. I cant put an update out as an author, and I follow plenty of authors, none of whom have ever put out an update.

I can't figure out how to add anything to that. But IIRC updates to your profile also go out to all your followers as an alert. Seems about the same function.

I think the answer is no. Think it's a feature they never fully developed. Would be so useful to have though.
