No new rules have been enacted. A post was made about coming changes and a great hullabaloo has ensued.

I have LONG removed graphic images from threads that aren’t picture threads. These get reported with some frequency.

OH!

Well THAT is new (to me). Up until now (last few days) "graphic" hand drawn images were not specifically mentioned in any rules (that I know of.)

It seems to me that a thread ABOUT image posting might include images?
To illustrate points— THIS was ok, but will not be, moving forward.

IF that will be policy across the forums, I wonder if there can be a thread designation "NO NUDES THREAD" or "TEXT ONLY THREAD" or... sumfin'

This is a discussion thread about the forum photo posting rules. There are many threads in this forum in which people share images. It is not unreasonable for people to expect graphic images to stay in those threads.

My intent with the note to you when removing the images was that it is proving the point. Everyone is shouting out that nude and graphic images should be allowed in the places where they are expected (like AmPics, threads titled appropriately so that folks KNOW they are opening an images thread, visual arts forum). I agree with this! I also agree that it’s not unreasonable for folks to expect they can open a discussion thread and not have dicks in their faces.

Seems simple enough to add to rules, if that will be the rules.

I am ok with those images being removed, I fully expected them to be — under the new rules.
Under the previous rules, there was a distinction between photographic images and non-photographic.

Now you said that "No new rules have been enacted".

Will there be a "heads up" just prior to implementation? (I am sure that you do not know, yet)

I have no idea what communication will come or when. Moderators have no information besides Manu’s announcement.

At this point, all I’m expecting is the same handful of people to fight about this in threads for months.

Just a quick update...

I sent the owners a dm on 26th May to try and get some clarity on what is and isn't acceptable, and guess what? I've finally got a reply!

Nah, of course I haven't. Why would they want to communicate in any way whatsoever?

From what is being deleted and the messages attached to the delegions, I think I am beginning to understand some of these rules.

You can never under any circumstances post a picture that is of, or includes, somebody other than yourself (even with their consent). This is a major violation and you may lose posting privileges. It is not clear whether this is just body shots. If two people were to meet for coffee, for example, could one of them post a face picture of both of them together?

Pictures of women’s chests are allowed if there is no nipple showing. Posting of pictures of women’s nipples will result in the picture being deleted as it is against forum rules. The nipple however can be shown through a sheer fabric.

Pictures of men’s chests and nipples are allowed.

Pictures of covered genitalia are allowed. They will be deleted for being against forum rules. It isn’t clear whether the picture is allowed if an erection can clearly be seen or if there are any “damp” spots. Again, sheer fabric on women seems to be allowable if only the pubic area (not the genitalia) can be seen.

Pictures of buttocks are allowed provided the anus is not on view and the angle of the picture does not allow for any genitalia to be shown.

That is my understanding of them anyway. I would appreciate feedback from the powers that be or any moderators if I am wildly off the mark here.

Is there a specific person that pictures can be sent to for approval before they are posted? People are becoming more and more worried about losing privileges or even having their account banned for breaking rules that are still not clear.

I can't answer for the photos of two people, though they've been done for years without problem.


The TOS state - in regard to lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of any person.

• We do not allow the posting of: Nudity (genitals, nipples, or buttocks); Closeups of breasts, buttocks, or crotches (even clothed); Hardcore, or explicit sexual acts; Violence, gore, or extreme content; Bestiality or related illegal acts; Dick pics; Sex toys being used, etc.

It's not what I think. It is the law. Other countries are going to implement this. UK will start July 25. People need to familiarize themselves with the laws of their state or country. There's a lot of info out there on this topic.

I'm well aware of that. I live in UK.

I was questioning your assertation

"Naked pictures or age verification, pick one"

Even from your quotes it's not true.

This ruling allows states to enact onerous age-verification rules that will block adults from accessing lawful speech

The stories will still require age verification under that law
