Sex & Shenanigans

Speaking of birthdays …. Do you have a favourite birthday you’ve celebrated so far in your life?
Yes, can't remember the year though 🤣🤣
Why was it your favourite?
It's up there, but wouldn't say favorite.
Was it a good party?
Mmhmmm.
Did you get an amazing gift?
The gift was being in Atlantic City, but being on the beach with family and watching the Air Show. Thunderbirds flying over my head.
Did you travel somewhere?
I always travel on my birthday haha

Well... my favorite birthday was spelled correctly, but wasn't my birthday. For my late wife's 50th birthday, we spent two weeks driving from just north of San Francisco up to Astoria, Oregon (the northern most point of Oregon, on the coast). We had no schedule, no plans, just drove when we wanted, stopped when we wanted, enjoyed just the two of us being together. Is was beautiful. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I wanted to do the same thing when I turned 50, over 10 years later... but it was not to be.
I love that drive up 101 so much. It takes forever, but that is the point. If you are in a hurry, take I-5. If you just want to see beauty, to understand the world just a bit better, 101 is the drive.

Yeah... I agree. 101 through Oregon is my favorite place in the world. I'm not one for favorites, but that is home for me... even though I don't live there anymore.

My best birthday was probably 10 years old. Because that was the year my mother finally believed me that I like pie more than cake, so instead of a cake I got to blow out the candles on a homemade strawberry rhubarb pie. And I've only had birthday pies ever since. :)

My wife and I have a tradition where we give each other Broadway tickets for our birthdays every year. It guarantees that we see at least 2 shows a year, and it cuts out 95% of the worry about what presents to get. It'd be hard to rank which of those birthdays was the best, though. Maybe the first year we did it (before we were even married and before it became a tradition), when we saw The Boy from Oz back in 2003. Hugh Jackman at his bendiest. God, he made my wife horny that night.

When I turned 18 I thought, this is it, I'm no longer a child. I'm an adult! And now I will do adult things!
When I turned 20 I thought, this is it, I've put this whole adulting thing on pause, but now! Now I'll do adult things.
When I turned 25, my tune didn't change. Nor did my mind. Or my life.

But then I turned 30, and I thought to myself, this is it, I'm no longer striving to be an adult. I'm just me. And that's fine.

The party was good, nothing extraordinary happened, just fun with my nearest and dearest, but I so vividly remember that realization that, fuck it, I don't need to strive for some childish ideal of adulthood.

I'll just do as I've always done. 💕

I’ve rarely liked my birthday - when I was a kid having a summer birthday was an inconvenience for my parents plus it meant none of my friends were ever around because it was after school was out and we went away for the whole summer. So that wasn’t fun. I have had at least one memorable one and one good one…

The memorable one was my 13th. I had been begging to get my ears pierced for years but my parents wouldn’t let me until I was 13. My father had a running joke that I could get them done sooner if I let him do them with an ice pick (yes, my family is a little dark 😂). He also had a tradition of making a birthday cake in the shape of something significant for us, so my 13th birthday cake was in the shape of an ear with an ice pick in it. 🤣

The nice one was my 30th. I was supposed to go to NYC with a friend to see another friend but I got sick. So the friend I was supposed to travel with canceled her trip, too, and just hung out with me. She lived in another country at the time, so getting to NYC wasn’t easy for her so it was really nice she stayed with me instead.

That looks like a fun dress for a party! Plenty of volume for swirling and gesturing, plenty of coverage, and great cleavage to show off. 🥰

I also love your birthday self-awareness journey

The best thing is realizing you should never grow up.
