Day 18: A song for feeling angry

This was a difficult one for me because I donโ€™t tend to listen to music when I am angry. I do like angry women songs though and this is one of the first artists that I listened to that seemed to put her anger into songs with so much feeling.

Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know

Day 18: A song for feeling angry

Many songs came to mind. Only one I sang in the shower.

"I Get Mad," Sesame Street

(I needed this after yesterday's choice.)
I love sesame Street! They were teaching emotional health long before anyone else and it reached(s) kids who might not otherwise learn it. I've never heard this song but I guarantee I'll be singing it next time I need to feel angry!

King Nothing - Metallica
I have rarely let myself feel angry. I rationalised it away, forgave, or ignored. But I've learned that anger is a tertiary feeling, it is created by a core emotion like fear or frustration and that knowledge makes it much easier to actual feel the feels. So now I tend to listen to songs that express whatever emotion caused me to feel angry.

Except this song; I can't begin to count the number of times I have belted it out at the top of my lungs, especially in my car ๐Ÿ˜ There is just something about how the music and my poor singing ability work together to scratch the itch between my shoulder blades.

I remember doing it with my sister while watching the TV as little kids. And then as adults.

Sesame Street and Mr Rodgers, telling us feelings are normal, and we were normal for feeling. This world needs so much more of that.
