Anyone else miss Yahoo Chat!?

I didn't get into Yahoo Chat but remember ICQ fondly. Never used it for sexting - that came much later for me.

I'm curious though.. whenever I see threads like this, my first instinct is to think all the love is down to nostalgia and it being something new and different at the time. Also, it was the first interactive sexual experience for many. However, I notice a few people commenting on missing particular features or the easy of use.

What did Yahoo Chat actually do differently than what you see in the many apps and sites that are available today?

Yes, I used Yahoo Chat and MSN Messenger back in the day a lot. Some good memories 😊

To answer @LoneMilf 's question I think it was more that they were new, and among the first of their type. From memory, they were released in early to mid 2000s and Facebook didn't exist, WhatsApp didn't exist, Kik didn't exist etc etc. I didn't get a mobile phone till around 1999 and have a memory of having to call up my mobile phone company get text messages enabled for me!

Email had been around a while but wasn't 100% mainstream yet and still a bit slow, but the likes of Yahoo and MSN gave you more or less real time chats - important when in ummm time sensitive situations!

I really enjoyed MSN messenger, it was unique and exciting I guess and that does play into the nostalgia.

Hell yes! I wish I could find the lady I met in the room playing spades. LaceLisa32...we were in the spades room for hours cumulatively but probably only played 4 hands of spades because we always ended up in a hot cyber session. Good times.

I miss yahoo chat...and AOL...and Craigslist personals

It was a simpler time and the novelty along with its user-friendly approach made it accessible. Yahoo in particular it more possible to engage live with someone (especially in the dial-up age) than other platforms.

It sounds like the attraction of Yahoo Chat was very much in the new possibilities it provided and being part of something innovate and exciting. I got a somewhat similar experience from playing avatar sex games around 10 years ago, and I see the same kind of nostalgia from many of the early adopters.

So, in order to recapture experiences like that, I guess the logical thing to do isn't to try to revive what was - it isn't new and innovate anymore. Instead, maybe we should be looking at new technologies? With the current trends, I would say Virtual Reality might be a really good bet, although we might already be a little late to the party.

More likely that we'll use AI to come up with a mutually pleasing fantasy that will hook into our masturbation devices and ensure we orgasm together.

Thinking about it, AI would probably be better at controlling the multi participant orgies that spring up from time to time on Lit Chat!

I LOVED Yahoo chat and spent many late nights chatting and camming with folks, discussing everything from mundane life happening to really hot and erotic sexual fantasies. It was very formative in me exploring my bicuriousity and a great outlet for me to indulge in my exhibitionistism! I made a lot of wonderful friends and regular chat buddies, some of whom I wonder what they are up to today!

I made life-long friends on Yahoo that I still have to this day. Hell, I wouldn't have met my first wife without it. Was literally world-changing.

In another Forum, someone asked what made Yahoo chat so wonderful. While I may not be able to name it specifically, I could not agree that hte video chat was hot and it straight-forwardness made it delightfully simple.

@LoneMilf you are right. In my case, it was the thrill of the newness of it all. Being young and inexperienced, I'm so blessed to have started when those spaces were 'quieter' and more intimate. You could take your time, be yourself, and find yourself in the company of others.

But now, like the rest of the internet, everything has become so gamified and exhausting, that I constantly find myself yearning for those days. I can't even imagine being a curious, shy young man today, and having to deal with the deluge of crap the web throws our way. I suppose it's age talking, but if I could have those moments back, I would. And I don't think new tech like VR or AI will ever scratch that itch properly. Back then, the internet was an escape from the world, somewhere private and hidden. Now, the internet is an inescapable part of our lives, and so doesn't have the same taboo thrill anymore.

Yahoo chat was the best. Used to chat with some many people from here in there.

I just loved Yahoo chat and chatting with very interesting strangers and taking it further!

It's a pity there aren't any simple instant messengers like Yahoo anymore!

Would love to hear fond/exciting memories on Yahoo, my top one was seeing an Indian hotwife (going on cam with different guys) and she loved chatting all things naughty!
I had 2-3 very intense online flings that started here on Literotica and lived on Yahoo chat. Great conversations and connections punctuated by amazing cybersex.

I still miss it....made it very convenient to get on quickly to have some hot fun chats! Especially for me like today that I am itching to have as much fun as possible today! Working from home has it's perks ;)

I do...especially the chat rooms. Honesty when they shut down the user made rooms, I lost interest.

YES!!! Met several women there and had some nice "cyber relationships". And with video... wow!

I miss yahoo chat very much :( , I've spent a nice chunk of my life on it talking to people

I forgot all about Yahoo chat. I spent HOURS of my life on there. I still have a few friends I made there back in the day. Memories

There's a blast from the past, in saying that I can remember when msn had a version of chat too, oddly more functional than a lot of modern rooms
