Ambien works when it works for sure...sadly for me it gave me the most vivid hallucinations I've ever experienced. The doctor's advice when I called to report it? Stop taking it. Gee, thanks doc I hadn't considered that. How much do I owe ya?

Neither did the doc of a friend's wife. Doc wanted them to consider pulling the plug, but some internet chatter talked about the ambien treatment. Doc said it wouldn't work. Friend said, "what do we have to loose?" It ended up working.

I had to change my expectations of my parents and understand that they did the best they could..... and love them.for all the good things they did for me.... and forgive their short comings....

They taught me how to be independent and do the right thing. They taught me work ethic and that kindness is important but to be kind isnt always nice... they taught me to stand up.for myself and how to handle a bully..
The stuff they lacked was stuff they weren't taught so how can I expect them to teach me....

My dad is 85 my mom.is 86.... they aren't gonna be here forever......

I think they did the best they could conceive of given their profound childishness and their inability to see things in the light of anything other than themselves. That seems to be their big handicap, this level of self absorption. I have been very diligent these last 30 years to rid myself of mine every time I see it appear.

Breakfast and lunch was combined today. I would imagine that if I were to receive a Yelp review it would go something like:

3/5 stars! Food was very good and seasoned just right but the service was cringe. The waiter looked familiar and I bet he bothered the chef the whole time.

That is so sad. I have found as I get older I don’t see my parents as parents but as people and how wonderful they were in that respect.

I have zero complaints about mine. My only issue right now is watching them age, it's too hard to watch.

Yeah I get it.... I see a little of that but it isnt too bad...
90percent they are awesome but that 10 percent is something else
In some ways my parents should have stopped at one child.
There is a lot of unresolved trauma that luckily I have fixed some of that in myself

We all have that chance... It's the ones that don't or won't see the need for change that worry me...

Hello all! I'm brand-new here, don't see an introductions thread - so this seems like a great place to come say HEY. I've never been one to take a spontaneous plunge into a new social circle (or a pool); I prefer easing in, acclimating, and eventually diving deep.

OK, and I admit it's been awhile since I indulged in either a Greasy Spoon OR a Dive Bar, so I'll take the opportunity to order a ginormous steak & eggs, medium-rare, over-easy; also an Irish Car Bomb please. ^_^

The very first post spells out the rules for this thread. No religion, no politics, etc.

I see you're pretty new to this site in general. Just a heads up, this thread will be quite a bit different than what you find almost everywhere else here.

Other than that, it might be good to go back a bit and read along to get a feel for the place. It's a chill place with a good group of patrons, who intend to keep it that way. Low key friendly banter and making friends are what we're here for.
