🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

I like to hike in the woods alone. But I’ve had two incidences happen to me in the past 6 months that have made me wary. Does anyone carry anything (weapon wise) for protection when they’re out running/trail walking alone?
I don’t carry anything but maybe a small thing of mace spray. I’ve seen small ones that you can clip on or slip in your pocket.

Many if not most of the women I know who trail run do carry pepper spray. I know one who wears a holster under her running stuff.

Thank you both.

I’ll have to mentally prepare to be ready to use it.

I have mace on my keychain and will carry that. I also keep a skating tool in my pocket that could be used as a weapon if necessary. It sucks that we have to think about those things but I've had incidences like that as well on trails.

My wife runs with pepper spray most of the time. We looked into a holster but it really isnt convenient or comfortable to deal with while running.

Morning Sweaters!
I haven't worked out in 3 weeks and am feeling it lol.🐷 It's going to be a process getting back into the swing of things. I'm hoping to do off skate workouts next week with low/no impact.

Last night I debated on going to practice because I'm feeling pretty worthless and not part of the team since I can't participate but I'm so glad that I went. These people.... I am going to miss them the most when we move. I've never met others more supportive and kind and badass all at once. I wish I could take the team with me when we go.🥹

Sunday is our first bout (match) against another team. I won't be able to play but will be going to officiate the penalty box. 😈

Happy I can still be involved and participate in some capacity. I cannot wait to start skating again, it's killing me! Lol.

Have a great one!

So happy you're getting to stay engaged! That'll help so much with the mental aspect like you said. We've all got you! .... I'd bet anything you'll be able to get back into it easier than you think.

Nothing about you is ever worthless, you contributed to your team's success and I'm sure you brought a positive vibe as well. You will start again in the near future and you will be better than ever.

True, true. I'm all in my head right now but I'm sure it'll work out. Thank you!

Briefly checking in during my yoga retreat.

A typical schedule:
Wake up
Go get coffee and then breakfast is available at 8 (all vegetarian food which has been different for me but still very good)
1st yoga class. Vinyasa yoga which is a pretty low intensity version. This retreat is based around the elements so the first class was on Earth so we held the tree pose while the teacher read some literature that we focused on so that we wouldn’t fall over. (I still fell a lot). Learn from me - do not get a squishy yoga mat. They are nice when you are doing floor work but if you try any balance or stabilization, it is really tricky.
After yoga: treatment. I chose stretch. So this is when the teacher stretches your legs and hips and arms and shoulders - basically bends you into a pretzel for 45 minutes.
Lunch
A little free time - read my book
Hike- it’s fucking freezing too. Little bit muddy and steep in some spots but nice for the most part.
Dinner
Final yoga ceremony of the day - about water element - listened to Tibetan bowls being played , held some other poses, Pigeon.. I can’t remember all of them. I was beat.

So typically 2-3 yoga classes and an activity, plus any treatment or body conditioning you choose. One came with the retreat so I chose the stretch. There’s a little down time but not much.

Sounds like you are thoroughly enjoying yourself and the change of pace. Hopefully it’s a good break from the rest of life and you go home feeling recharged!

This sounds amazing and so healing and empowering in a way. Thank you for sharing!

This all sounds amazing, but this part world new my favourite. Stretching is my least favourite thing to do after exercise (yet so important), someone helping (forcing lol) me sounds amazing.

I've been asked if I'd like to go to one in September in Italy. I'm seriously considering it.
Do it!!

Closest I ever did was a one day event at a local Buddhist centre. We brought food to share and were encouraged to not speak or look at our phones for the full day. We did yoga and meditation and listened to different people give teachings. It was a wonderful experience and at the end of the day I felt very calm - almost serene

IMG_3851.pngI‘m not cleared to do this since my 3rd covid infection last month, but planning for it has given me something to look forward to. I’ve been walking 5k’s for the past 2 years and I’ve needed a new goal for some time now.

It’s soon going to be warm enough to use the circuit equipment in the parks. I can feel it!

This is my issue. I hate stretching. I have to bully myself into doing it knowing I risk injury otherwise.
It's honestly the worst... and somehow the best. It's frustrating.

That plan looks good, too. Very doable and I love a good run/walk plan. Tons of people run/walk interval every distance no matter how experienced they are at it, it's underrated.
