Depending upon what you mean by "saving". Militarily, it was the Russians who truly defeated Germany. Even against Japan, even after the US dropped two nukes' Japan still was leaning to fight on. It was Russia announcing it too would join forces and attack Japan, that move Japan to surrender.

Now of course, Russia never could have defeated Germany without the material aid from the US. The US became the most powerful manufacturing country in the world. The US's wealth grew logarithmically producing and selling munitions and materials to the UK and Russia.

So if you mean logistically, yes the US did save Europe and got rich doing so. If you mean by joining in a couple years after the start, no it wasn't you saving the rest. The US was just part of the team.
