Day 12: A song for or about the person you cannot get out of your head

Maybe I'm reading into this the wrong way but I don't know that there is anyone I can't get out of my head. There are people from my past that pop up in my thoughts from time to time but if it's in an unpleasant way, they're evicted expeditiously.

I was recently thinking back to my bestie from middle school. We weren't just boy-crazy, more boy-certifiably-insane. When we weren't obsessing over boys and teachers at school, there was Adam Levine who we both agreed was absolutely dreamy. And that first Maroon 5 album holds up surprisingly well so I think I'll finish listening to it now because I'm not into much of their newer stuff.

UDPW Day 10: So, for their fiftieth anniversary, pick a song you like that was played on Saturday Night Live.

Yeah, somehow I whiffed on this, probably owing some to wanting to find a video of an actual performance of one of the songs, which can be a bit scarce the further back you go, even into the 90s, which I wouldn't think would be the case. Someone at NBC should work on that.

But, I found the audio, even if it's a little meh. But I fucking love this record, and this song, and so here you go. (Foo Fighters, Stacked Actors)

It was 79/80 and we had none of these lovely skate rinks. But we had youth clubs where you could pose around and try and be cool.

I was confused by the prompt until I saw @TXRafe's photos! I've never been to a skate rink like that, I don't even know if we have those?? They look so fun though...

What we do have is an abundance of skate parks, and 13 year old me spent a looot of time there! I was never great on a board, but it was fun, there was a real, supportive community, and everyone was just so chill. Many of the people who I met there carried on to go to Fryshuset Skating High School! You know like some schools have a focus on basketball or football? I wanted to go but mom put her foot down In hindsight, I'm thankful. As are my knees.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Haven't thought about those places in so long... Thanks for digging that up.

Okay, it's still the same song, but I changed the link to a different version. I just found out that Tony Hawk himself joined Goldfinger on stage to sing Superman in 2023!! This is the coolest thing ever

This is the cheesy song 13 yr old me would have picked while skating with my crush, but it would’ve been ice skating. I didn’t try rollerskating until I was an adult and I thought I was going to die.

Sounds familiar. I don’t know if you saw the Tony Hawk doc, Until The Wheels Come Off, but it is phenomenal. Not only an unbelievable human and story, but the music kicks ass.
